  • Tom Power Horan on striking it good and finding his groove

On a random Sunday recently I was invited out for a drink with 2 of my mates. Then 2 mates of one of those mates joined us - one of those was Tom Power Horan. As it turned out, I was watching Tom the week before play golf on TV although I didn't realise until much later.

TPH is a professional golfer and has been since gaining his card in 2016. This year proved to be a breakout year for him as he place 2nd on the Australian order of merit, along the way gaining cards to play internationally.

We had a great chat and really hit it off (the deck 😉), as our conversation traversed so many different aspects of his life as a person trying to make a career as a successful golfer. It was also super fun as I was able to geek out on certain golf terms and references and talk about stuff that I don't usually get to talk about from my past.

Tom is a great bloke and a lot of fun to chat to and is now starting to find his groove as a pro, with the future looking incredibly bright.

  • the cycle of life and death

Recently I wrote about the weight of lives gained and lost for my newsletter subscribers.

I wrote about how I was feeling about life after 3 things intersected in my head and heart to bring forward a wave of emotion.

    1. The birth of a new baby boy.
    2. The tragic loss of a friend of a friend.
    3. The memory of losing one of my best mates in early 2021.
    4. The unavoidable circle of life and death had been poetically laid out to me in plain sight.

I cried, a lot - once the snot and tears had been wiped away, what remained was a sense of appreciation.

      Celebrate the good things.

Accept the not so good things.

See the beauty in all things.

This life is dynamic, difficult, challenging, rewarding, painful and beautiful.

    5. transforming lives with Rowan Allan Fitness

Since rebranding to ‘The Sav Show’ I’ve mostly been riding solo… it’s given me the opportunity to build consistency and confidence in my skills and tools as a creator.

My first interview since rebranding is now live and I thought it was fitting to get my man Rowan Allan Fitness in to have a chat about his journey so far.

This guy has been a huge addition to my life in the last 6 months in so many different ways. From acquaintance to client to mate.

We met at the gym and hit it off through a shared love of fitness and martial arts… since then I have taken on the role of his social media manager, he has acted as a mentor in aspects of fitness and business and through all of this we have developed a genuine friendship.

Rowan cares about people, he cares about seeing them do well… he pushes me constantly to back myself as he pushes his clients to want their best possible lives.

He refers to himself as a transformation coach because fitness and health is holistic and should account for the mental and emotional implications of day to day life.

Check out my chat with Rowan and be sure to reach out to help if you are wanting to improve on your fitness journey.

    6. push through the fatigue

      Push through the fatigue.

Not just tiredness or soreness. I'm talking about the mental fatigue of losing and not being on top.

The fatigue one endures when you're inner critic is your single greatest opponent.

The fatigue of second guessing yourself day in and day out.

The fatigue of shaming yourself for f*****g up.

The fatigue of beating yourself up for doing something/anything that doesn't immediately succeed.

Every single day, in every single moment, we need to be willing to cast all the doubt and b******t aside and at all costs find a way to push through the fatigue.

The gift awaiting you on the other side of that moment is invaluable. The greatest gift you could receive - self belief.

We are going to get challenged, we are going to get knocked, we are going to second guess.

      That is ok.

Fight back, push back, scrap for everything, find a way through and push through the fatigue.

You will always be glad you did.

    7. we performed at a boxing event

In November last year I had my very first fight in boxing.

For my walk-out, I danced and sung along to Tainted as rūku walked alongside me and performed the song.

It was a hell of an experience, but I knew that it wasn’t enough - I had to perform at an event like this.

I worked my magic and found an opening.

Last Friday night at Melbourne Pavilion, rūku and I performed 2 songs to hype up the crowd at Tribute’s Fight Night event (the same one I fought at 8 months earlier).

It was daunting and exhilarating and so much fun!

I was proud of our performance, of the opportunity to perform at such a cool venue as well as the way we handled ourselves as professionals and entertainers.

The crowd were a little hard to get going, but that was to be expected.

Shoutout JB, Tribute and everyone who was there fighting and supporting, it was a cracking event and one I plan to be a part of again.

    9. doing the difficult thing (because it's the right thing)

I had a very peculiar and sticky situation pop up recently.

It was challenging to put together the best course of action, but it was happy to be presented with an opportunity to practice what I preach.

This is the story of how I saw someone I knew on a dating app, how I spoke my truth despite feeling uncomfortable and the generous and vulnerable conversation that ensued.

      I hope you enjoy it.

    10. motorbikes and more life with dexter seamus

I went to an event last week.

Fried and Tasty in collaboration with Crooks Barbers in Fitzroy - it was such a dope night.

Got to have food, drink beer, grab a haircut and have a chat to some of my favourite people in Melbourne music. One of those people is Dexter Seamus.

We talked a lot of s**t as you will soon see, but we got onto some really important topics in regard to the freedom of operating without management, and the impact of hard work and preparation.

Enjoy this slightly loose and very unplanned chat with Melbourne rapper and artist Dexter Seamus.

    11. conviction is easy when I'm the product

I was reading Patrick Bet David's book 'Your Next 5 Moves', when a passage about conviction stuck out to me.

"Sales should feel effortless, like a natural extension of who you are"

This made a lot of sense to me when related to solopreneurship and personal brand. When it comes to me and the business I am trying to build, it doesn't really feel like selling because I have so much belief in what I am doing aka conviction.

So, in this episode I talk a little more about that concept - conviction when selling and how it relates to my personal brand/products.

Thanks for tuning in, please don't forget to drop a comment and review and let me know what you thought of this episode.
