They may not be J Jonah Jameson, but our heroes sure do love to talk webheads - don’t worry, they’re not gonna put him on the front page of the Daily Bugle. Instead, this week the Sneople are discussing the Sam Raimi Spiderman movies!

For those who have yet to enjoy these particular films, the Sneople provide brief (and not so brief, in the case of Spiderman 3) recaps of all three movies, interspersed with their thoughts on each film and how they all tie together as a trilogy. They also compare them to the current MCU Spiderman films and why the current MCU just doesn’t fit with our friendly neighborhood Spiderman. They obviously also discuss the wave of Alfred Molina thirst taking over the internet, because this is what he deserves and they agree with the movement wholeheartedly.

They do not discuss the Andrew Garfield Spiderman movies, but he was robbed when they wouldn’t let him play a bi Spiderman. He has a well deserved Tony now, but some crimes can never be forgiven.

Labor Day is nearly upon us, beloved listeners, and the Sneople are celebrating by doing a Labor Day special on three excellent US Union movies!

The three movies in question are Matewan (1987), Norma Rae (1979) and Bread and Roses (2000). The Sneople discuss all three as stand alone films, as well as how they tie into the history of unions and each reflect the way unions have evolved. Ezra and Matty wrap up the episode with their own personal experiences with unions, and why they believe in them so strongly. Just in case it wasn’t extremely obvious, this is a very pro-union podcast.

Unrelated to the topic at hand, the Sneople are also emotionally gearing up for fall and spooky movie season. Dracula adaptations, anyone?

The Sneople have finally all made their triumphant returns to the theaters, beloved listeners, and they’re ready to talk shop about a movie they’ve been waiting for: The Green Knight!

In this spoiler-heavy episode, your Sneople talk about the original legend, how well they know it, and how good it stood up as both an adaptation and a movie (spoiler: really really well). They spent most of this episode discussing the plot and lore itself - what worked, what was confusing, and why they liked it so much. Matty also does a brief retelling of the original story from memory, in case you weren’t aware that they’re an Arthurian legends dork.

The Sneople realized near the end that they had so much more to say about the movie, so this is part one of a two parter on The Green Knight! Tune back in two Thursdays from now for a closer look on the technical aspects of the film and wrap up of their final thoughts,

This week on Sneople at the Movies, longtime friend of the show Leah returns, fresh off a completed Supernatural rewatch, to talk needledrops and all things music!

After reviewing what they’ve seen (and read) recently, Ezra, Matty, and Leah set about defining what a needledrop is and discussing some notable examples in film and TV. These range from the obvious (Guardians of the Galaxy, Forrest Gump) to some of their personal faves (Atomic Blonde, The Martian), while also talking about great music moments that don’t count as needledrops. Leah wraps it all up by dropping her top 6 needledrops and why they’re so good!

Obviously they also talk about Lord of the Rings - no there aren’t technically any needledrops but when has something as simple as “the topic for the episode” ever stopped the Sneople?

It’s summer once again Beloved Listeners, but there’s no Summer of the Rings this year - instead, we’re kicking off the hotter months with Matty’s birthday and an Unusual Double Feature: The Thing and Blade Runner, which both came out on June 25th, 1982!

The Sneople get right into the thick of it comparing these two films, which both discuss the fear of The Other and losing yourself to something you don’t understand in very different ways. They then move on to Blade Runner 2049, why it failed to live up to the (albeit flawed) original, and why The Thing and Blade Runner both have such staying power after almost 40 years. They also rightfully dunk on one of the reviewers who dared say that The Thing wasn’t good when it first released. Who’s overwrought NOW, huh???

Be warned that this is a spoiler-filled discussion of a few movies which all have great twists, so if you have not see either The Thing or Blade Runner before and want to go into them blind, they recommend viewing the films first!

This week on Sneople, Matty becomes 80% of the impulse control and leaves Ezra and Helena on their own to discuss some Film Hot Takes!

After a bracing discussion on musical to film adaptations and why they shouldn’t exist, Helena and Ezra dive right into a topic weighing heavily on their minds: Why does JJ Abrams direct like that? This discussion takes them from The Star Trek reboots to the Star Wars sequels to and beyond, with a pit stop at discussing why Picard is the real bad boy of Star Trek.

Also, they talk about Supernatural because see above RE: Matty was 80% of the impulse control this week and wasn’t around to stop them.

All three of the Sneople have been reunited, beloved listeners, and they’re more ready than ever to drop into this week’s topic: Summer Blockbusters!

After revealing that Matty is now the only Sneople who has not made their glorious return to the movie theater life, the Sneople dive into the origins of the summer blockbuster, including where the phrase came from. They then get into why blockbusters can be so disappointing and why their flaws reflect on the US film market as a whole. Not all is lost, however - the Sneople also talk about the summer blockbuster hits they love and defined the genre, and why they’re fun even when they’re bad,

They do talk a lot about the Resident Evil movies even though none of them really came out in the summer - they have to count though because Matty saw all of them in like a 5 day span and they HAVE the summer blockbuster vibes.

Buckle up, it’s another two-man show this week on Sneople at the Movies, as Matty and Helena talk about their Top 5 Movies (both new to them and rewatches) of 2020!

After catching up on what Helena’s seen since we last heard from them, our heroes dive right into their lists of what they loved last year and why they loved them. From there, it takes some twists and turns and they end up with a emotional discussion about queer rep in cinema, how things have changed in recent years, and how much further we still have to go.

They also take a break somewhere in there to talk about various sea animal phobias. We sure do love Jaws though!

We’re down a Snerson this week, but Ezra and Matty march bravely onwards to tackle the filmography of a show favorite: Sean Bean!

They open up the episode by talking a LOT about The Clone Wars animated series in What We Sneep, but move right along to discuss Sean Bean’s career, acting prowess, and exactly what makes him so compelling. They also determine that he is the perfect age to be playing more dads, as well as to be in a fun father-son flick with Patrick Stewart. Chop chop, Hollywood!

Sean, if you’re out there, we are very sorry for the multiple ways we jokingly said your stage name in this episode and also Matty specifically is sorry for never meeting your plot-important character in Oblivion. They had a lot of side quests to do.

It’s the most Movie-filled time of year, beloved listeners, and we ONCE AGAIN timed our Oscars prediction episode to come out AFTER the Oscars! No worries, you still get the joy of hearing who’s gonna win the Helena Awards this year.

After a spirited and emotional discussion of why we miss movie theaters so much and sussing out why the Oscars are so particularly weird this year, Helena goes through their predictions for the 2021 Oscars because they’re the only one who saw most of the movies nominated. She then takes us through the nominations and winners of The Helena Awards for this year, which we here at Sneople at the Movies view as the one true awards show.

We also roast the hell out of the guy who directed 12 Dogs of Christmas. Remember that guy? Wild.
