  • 46. What Happened To You?
This week we discuss the book "What Happened to You?" by Dr. Bruce Perry and Oprah. This book explores human behavior thru the lens of seeking to understand the present by shedding light on the past. As Shakespeare once wrote, "What's past is prologue." So much of human behavior can be understood and dealt with once we approach interactions with compassion for past events. • 43. Leadership and Self Deception with Michael
Another very special guest episode on the Snug and Shady show! Cynthia's friend, Michael, joins the show today to discuss the role of leadership in the business world, and how connecting with people in positive ways drives better outcomes. We also discuss confirmation bias and self deception, and what a seductive path that is. Rationalizing and turning a blind eye to our own behavior makes any recovery more challenging.

  • 42. Are You Clingy or a Ghoster?
Gather 'round kids, this week we are talking about Attachment Theory!
What make relationships fall apart? So many of get involved with someone, only to tell our friends when it ends, "oh, that was such a toxic relationship!" What drives connection in relationships and then ultimately leads to its demise?
Attachment theory may be to blame. Due to the way some people were raised, people can be either secure, anxious, or avoidant attachers. The Anxious ones get classified as clingy and needy, often needing more emotionally than their partner can provide. The Avoidants are the ones who cut ties when it gets too real, ghost, and are afraid of love. Secure attachers are the gold standard - which we can all learn to become!

  • 40. Brittany Talks Trauma (and Foster Care!)
Another very special guest joins us today - Calvin's friend Brittany! Calvin and Brittany discuss all things trauma, especially childhood trauma and how it plays out in adulthood. So many of us don't realize how unmet childhood needs (especially emotional needs) affects our adult relationships.
Trauma literally changes your biology! Trauma is like it's own entity, and is stored in your body. It needs to be released some way - physical therapy, talk therapy, sound therapy, energy healing, pick a lane and heal that trauma! Trauma turns you into a fight, flight, freeze or fawn mentality. It keeps you trapped in that thought pattern, and constantly scanning for danger or rejection.
Brittany discusses the impact of this mindset and problem, and how important it is to overcome and heal it. Overcome intergenerational trauma and heal your family! Listen now!
