This week it is all Nicole! Joining us from The Great White North and we were happy to have her on.
She gave us an idea of what life was like growing up, then becoming a "wild child," obtaining a law degree and the struggles that brought her into recovery.
Today she is sober, confident and most importantly, is giving back to the same community that she took from for many years. She has a hell of a story. You don't want to miss it.

Well... we had a slight issue with a power outage. But as always, we don't edit so you will hear it all. Just as it was recorded.
Mike did his reading and it was about surrender. We also dove into Step 3 (beginning of the 3rd month) and had a nice talk about that. We talked about what we did and what we keep doing every day.
Then we talked about another power that is greater than us... Google.
We chatted about drinking dreams, drinking beyond the buzz, a recalled moment of spite, recovery literature, peeling back the onion, celebrating our successes, losing friends when we got sober and the term "balls deep" came up a few times. Hence the episode title.

** The audio may not be the best quality this week, since there was a glitch with our studio software. The conversation is of great quality though! **
This week it is all Sonia! We figured out pretty quickly that we have a lot in common with her and it helped to make a great conversation.
Visit her on Instagram @joineverblume
She talked a little about her childhood, when she started drinking and how it escalated to a daily activity. A successful business woman, with a "work hard play hard" mentality, then actually had a cognizant thought that she should get sober and she did it.
Sonia is the founder of EverBlume, which provides small group recovery meetings where members are matched into groups based on what they are struggling with (i.e. The First 90 Days, Self-Esteem, Grief, Relationships). The goal is for members to find connection through conversation, and get meaningful support and feedback from each other. She tells us how she started that and what she is doing with it today.

This week it's all Megan! Or "Crazy Megan," as we call her (with love) and as all of you have gotten to know her.
Megan has been a friend of ours for a long time, but we even heard some things in her story that were new to us.
She talked about her drinking and using days, "Jack Daniels from the rip," and the fact that she "liked chaos and drama." Now she lives a life of gratitude, has 2 adorable children, a good job, a house and a husband who has been a friend of ours since we were 3 months sober.
We told stories, laughed, made inappropriate comments and just shot the breeze for an hour or so. It was a great conversation, with a wonderful person that we are proud to call our friend.

We start off with a nice comment from one of our followers. We like to hear nice things too.
No fronts, but the one year mark for this podcast thing is right around the corner! Mike did a reading about "cheap little slogans" and we talked a bit about how those sayings helped us and continue to help us.
Then we remembered Phyllis, one of the founders of The Ed Keating Center, who passed away this week. She was a big part of our sober lives and she helped hundreds of people just like us. She was a wonderful human being, and she will be missed.

Live from Cleveland! Just Mike and I this week, but we had a lot to catch up on.
We started off talking about why I am in Cleveland this weekend. Some good old fashioned fun with sober friends.
Mike had a great reading from this week and it focused on freedom and responsibility. That led into a conversation about how we felt when we first got some freedom after we got sober.
We talked about Step 2 (cuz it's the start of the second month of the year), and the insanity that we had to overcome. We told some stories about our drinking and using at the end, the morning pick me up verses drinking until you drop.
We admitted that we aren't perfect. That was a tough one (not really) And as always, we rambled.

This week we got to spend some time with our good friend Tony. He went through The Keating Center, just like we did and he shares his experiences.
Tony had an interesting plan when he came in, a plan that you will have to hear to truly appreciate and enjoy. But then in his words, "he got busy."
We talked about powers greater than us, groups, sponsoring, struggling, Founders Day, the fellowship and whatever else popped into our heads.
Honestly, it was just three really good, sober friends, shooting the breeze for a bit.

We recorded a new website promo! Goofy, but fun.
Mike started out with a great reading and then we talked about a couple of other items from recent things that we have read. Being mechanical and what we deserve.
We did get a gift this week (very cool), then we talked about spite, challenges with staying sober, drunk texting, approaching our amends, a nice email that we received and being remembered for your recovery rather than your addiction.
And Mike couldn't seem to say "Sober Not Mature" properly. A couple of times.

We are extremely happy to have had the chance to collaborate with Ashley and Sober Girl Podcast! @sobergirlpodcast
She is a hell of a lot nicer than us (which Mike said is a very low bar), but still. She was great.
We talked about a lot and quite honestly, I forgot to take detailed notes but...
We talked about podcast backgrounds, Russel Brand, ways to stay sober, non-alcoholic drinks, NA and AA, Triggers, trauma, relationships and of course, some nonsense.
If you want all of the details, I guess you will just have to listen.

We have some more haters... But we also have a super cool announcement!
This recording is happening on January 6th, and it's an important day for us. We explain that and talk about it.
Could it be that simple? It's a repeated story, but it's important. (Hint: The answer is "yes.")
New Year's Eve wrap up, absolute honesty, the best day sober (or at least the promise of it), what scared us about AA and dealing with anger.
I think we ended with a conversation about us still being assholes? That is absolute honesty.
