In this episode I spoke with Randy from Lamb Of God, when his band were over supporting Slayer at the final headline show Slayer were doing in London before calling it quits. We talked about life, art and music that encompassed stuff like the nature of being in the public eye, social media, the state of the world and his passion for photography.

Mike Shinoda discusses the making of his fantastic debut solo album 'Post Traumatic', the paintings that were to become the albums artwork and the creative process in general. We also touch upon passing of his friend and Linkin Park bandmate Chester Bennington and how making the album was a means of coming to terms with that.
It seems appropriate putting this episode online today, as I just saw that today is World Suicide Prevention Day.
This is a slightly shorter episode than normal due to a busy schedule. As I explain in the intro, there is some extra conversation added that I felt relevant from a conversation we had later that day with a slight change in audio quality. Please excuse the jumps between the two chats when they happen.

The cover painting was more challenging than normal (I realise that I probably say that with each one) but it came out pretty decent in the end. I wanted to include some of Mikes own graf style imagery and Boris the sock puppet that Mike used in the video he made for the track off of the album 'Ghosts'.
Thanks.

This episode is with Manuel from Zeal & Ardor, an awesome band that fuses black metal with rootsy Spirituals that started as a one man projects and now is a full touring band.
We discuss the upcoming album 'Stranger Fruit' which is due out June 8th. We get into its references to esoteric topics such as Goetia, Abramelin the Mage, the syncretic religion of the Yoruba, The Tarot and more.
Listen to the album when its released and check out the singles that are already out there from it like Gravediggers Chant etc. Its a great work and it was cool to sit with Manuel who was happy for me to pick through the references amongst the lyrics and track titles.

Someone Who Isn't Me (SWIM) Podcast Episode 21: Kat Von D
Daniel P Carter chats with tattooist, artist, musician and business woman Kat Von D about art, creativity, veganism, her upcoming album and sobriety, amongst other things.
It was a rad afternoon at her house talking about all this, meeting her three cats (who you'll hear making their presence know part way through the episode) and also it was a trip for me to see her incredible art collection, which was my first chance to see a few pieces I knew from seeing online previously, in the flesh. Good times.
For some reason the audio on this one isn't quite up to the usual standard, so I apologise. I had to fight to get past a strange hum on the audio, but its well worth ignoring and enjoying the conversation with an inspiring person.
You can find Kat online here: @thekatvond on instagram and twitter, all things to do with her make up line @katvondbeauty and her tattoo shop @highvoltagetat. If I said those slightly incorrectly on the intro or outro, don't hate me.
Daniel is here: @danielpcarter on IG & Twitter.
Someone Who Isn't Me is here: @SWIMPodcast
Also, if you want the chance to win one of the cover paintings from an episode, follow the podcasts IG & Twitter, write a review on iTunes, screenshot all three of those for proof and send to @SWIMPodcast on twitter along with the hashtag #swimportrait to be entered into a draw on Jan 5th to win one of the original paintings from one of the last 21 episodes. Not decided which one it'll be quite yet.
Thank you.

Dan Searle, drummer with UK band Architects, talks about the loss of his twin brother Tom Searle, guitarist and songwriter for Architects. Its been a little over six months since Tom passed away due to cancer. On the eve of the bands North American tour Dan Searle contacted me about coming on Someone Who Isn't Me to discuss Tom's illness and its aftermath and how that informed their latest album 'All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us'. We spoke about how this has profoundly affected not only him and the rest of the band, but also the bands fanbase, what the future holds for the band, the beginnings of new music and moving forward. Its seems he's received a lot of requests to do interviews, but decided he'd like to come on the podcast and discuss these things in one place, so that there is a point of reference for anyone wanting to know the situation. As I say in the introduction, I'm aware people will transcribe this and share it in different ways, but please be respectful to everyone involved. The band have a run of shows coming up and all dates can be found online at: facebook.com/architectsuk Dan Searle is on Twitter and IG here: @danarchitects Dan Carter is on Twitter on IG here: @danielpcarter Please subscribe on iTunes or Acast.
