Our pal Erik Barnes comes by to tell us about his new toy project (Monstors) and along the way learns about the Mary Garnett stories of Sonic the Hedgehog from David and Grant. Plus we discuss Iizuka-san's interviews mentioning the possibility of Sonic Adventure 3 and the Chao Garden games in the future. There's also some light improv with the Dueling McCartneys.
We mostly focus on Sega's launch line-up for the Dreamcast on that fateful day of September 9th, 1999, which was one of the biggest console launches in history, up until that point, arguably, supposedly. Listen, we all love the Dreamcast, including our returning guest Michael Stearns, but are we blinded by orange spiraled nostalgia? Find out!
Bo and David man the fort while Grant is on vacation (though he’s hyped, rest assured), and are joined by Ryan Langley (Sonic the Hedgeblog) to discuss and analyze the new Shadow reveal trailer for Sonic Movie 3! Special thanks to Bo for the edit and Jack of Old Games for this week's video capture.
Writer Frank Gibson joins us and, despite some audio issues, takes us on a journey of SEGA from the Master System to the Dreamcast. We also review Shadow's Doom Powers reveal trailer! If you enjoy the show, consider donating to our Kofi and receive a custom gift from us!
Special thanks to Jack of Old Games for this week's edit and, as always, the video capture.
PS: If you'd like to see the Mean Machines Sega Sonic 2 preview discussed in the episode, the VHS is uploaded here! Thanks big_smile!
This week— Team Sonic Weekly at the Olympic games; headcanons and fortune cards; should we just give up on Sonic multiplayer; Sega's Happy Days universe; and a conversation about the theoretical "good bosses" (do they exist?). If you enjoy the show, consider donating to our Kofi and receive a custom gift from us!
Special thanks to Jack of Old Games for the video capture.
Now that some time has passed, Team Sonic Weekly must ask themselves — which holds up better thus far, Sonic Frontiers or Sonic Superstars? Plus, David's got a nuclear hot take in response to a listener question from the mailbag. If you enjoy the show, consider donating to our Kofi and receive a custom gift from us!
Special thanks to Jack of Old Games for this week's edit AND the video capture.
We're back! Season 3 begins with a crossover episode with our friends over at FTCR to discuss the new Ken Penders graphic novel. If you enjoy the show, consider donating to our Kofi and receive a custom gift from us!
Special thanks to Jack of Old Games for video capture.
Ah yeah, this is happenin'! Cybershell returns to the show for a wide-ranging rambling good time. Fueled by a few listener e-mails from the mailbag, we talk about The Lara-Su Chronicles, Archie Sonic, Fleetway Sonic, Archie NiGHTS, Saturn NiGHTS, and more! Btw, we're taking a few weeks off after this episode, you'll hear from us again in August!
Special thanks to Bo for the edit on this episode.
Special thanks to Jack of Old Games for video capture.
Comedian Joey Clift loves Garfield to a degree that is not dissimilar to the way we love Sonic the Hedgehog, and since the two characters have crossed over before, why not spend an episode chatting about Garfield? This is a fun one! Extra special thanks to Jack of Old Games for the edit!
Actress, writer, and Dragon Ball superfan Dani Fernandez (Disney's Wreck-It Ralph 2) joins Grant & David to talk about the overlapping Venn diagram between their favorite franchises.
