A special double, make that triple whammy for you, a Bing Crosby/Hopalong Cassidy/New Year show all in one beautiful Library of Sound episode!  To begin this year we have a Bing Crosby Show with his special guest, our very own favorite Sounds Like Radio cowboy himself-- Hopalong Cassidy!  Along with Hoppy Bing welcomes singer Monica Lewis who is probably best known as the original Chiquita Banana girl!  As an added bonus you can even sing along with Monica as you’ll hear her original favorite banana song on this--Volume 75 edition of Sounds Like Radio’s Vast Library of Sound.

Today's Bing show was originally broadcast on January 2, 1952. This is another tape from my original collection and the sound is a vast improvement over what can be found on the interwebs if you’re willing to scrounge. Enjoy another original tape from our very own Vast Library of Sound.

From Volume 73 of the Vast Library of Sound comes a neat New Year's edition of The Adventures of Philip Marlowe!   This is the vintage Philip Marlowe series of the 1940's starring the definitive voice of Philip Marlowe, Gerald Mohr.   From December 26, 1948 hear now "The Old Acquaintance" a New Year's episode of the original Philip Marlowe series.   

It’s New Year’s Eve with Jean Shepherd!  Welcome to Volume 74 of a special New Year’s edition from the Library of Sound. Listen as Shep tells of his times at New Years including as a kid visiting his Grandma’s on New Year’s Eve along with all his cousins. This is a vintage archive show straight from the vaults, a New Year’s Eve show from Shep in 1971.

From Volume 72 of the Vast Library of Sound wing of Sounds Like Radio comes a New Year's Party Phil Harris & Alice Faye Show!   Mr. Scott (Gale Gordon) who's the boss at the sponsor of Phil's radio show is having a New Year's Party and Phil and the gang are coming!   Even if Mr Scott isn't thrilled.  From December 31, 1950 comes another truly funny Phil Harris show.   To help make this a Happy New Year we can start it off with a laugh and what better way than with the Phil Harris Alice Faye Show!

Sounds Like Radio is proud to present the return of a Paul Harvey Christmas tradition!   Every year on Christmas Day Paul Harvey's special Christmas message telling the story of The Man & The Birds was heard all across the land.    Each year I would be sure to tune in and catch this very moving Christmas story that Paul Harvey would tell.   I am happy to say that Paul Harvey Christmas annual tradition is back right here on Your Humble Host's Sounds Like Radio.   Hear now this beautiful Christmas parable.

Today a really neat Shepherd show for Christmas as he tells the story “Rattling Home For Christmas”.  It all takes place on a train at Christmastime.   You'll hear the train whistle and the tracks rumbling beneath you in this one.  I’m already hitting the play button, join Your Humble Host on this Christmas Train Tale.

Lionel Barrymore was the Best Ebenezer Scrooge.  A Christmas Eve Tradition is alive again now on Sounds Like Radio.  Lionel Barrymore, the definitive Scrooge, used to do perform this show every year on radio and he’s back again on this Sounds Like Radio Christmas Special!  Enjoy for yourself this Orson Welles production that I’ve listened to EVERY Christmas Eve for years and years.  It’s a classic.

From Volume 62 of the Vast Library of Sound comes a personal Christmas favorite.  Your Humble Host is pleased to bring you one of his exclusive tapes (with much better sound than what's out on the interwebs) of one of the special Christmas shows he saves for Christmas Eve package wrapping.   Today it's time for Bing Crosby's Chesterfield Christmas show with none other than Ethel Barrymore as guest.   From December 21, 1949 a complete show including original 1949 commercials, it's all here for your Christmas enjoyment.    

Bing and Ethel seem to be happy to be with each other and Ethel loves Bing's Christmas songs.   Well, so do we, here is this really nice show filled with mirth & music!
