This week, we’re calling it like we see it. Too many Christians in America preach love and humility on Sunday but live in contradiction the rest of the week. My brother and I share what we’ve seen firsthand—how faith can get tangled in politics, judgment, and money instead of the teachings of Jesus.
We talk about how supporting harsh immigration policies and agencies like U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement goes against the compassion Christ taught, and how true faith means feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, and caring for those in need. We also take a hard look at churches and Christian organisations that accept donations without showing where that money goes. If an organisation is tax-exempt, it has a responsibility to be fully transparent with its donors and remain free from overt political influence.
I’m currently reading Jesus and John Wayne by Kristin Kobes Du Mez, and it’s helping frame this conversation:
“Christian nationalism—the belief that America is God’s chosen nation and must be defended as such—serves as a powerful predictor of intolerance toward immigrants, racial minorities, and non-Christians.”
But there’s hope, too. More pastors, priests, and faith leaders are starting to speak out—calling for accountability, justice, and a return to the core of Jesus’ message: love, service, and humility. It’s a conversation about faith, integrity, and what it really means to live as a follower of Christ in today’s America.
