Southside Rabbi

What's going on, family!! We have our good homie Flame in the building this time around! Here we talk faith and reformed culture, the Jesus and John Wayne complex, as well as Flame's journey to embracing Lutheran Theology! We have a great time with the introductions, as usual, and also talk briefly about the stigma of Christian Hip-Hop, as well as how the Lord used Flame's music to disciple Ameen and KB from a distance! Here we go!

Southside Tribe, y'all better buckle up for this one! This time around, we caught up with our guy, Dr. Neil Shenvi, aka Big Daddy Neil, aka The Muffin Man, and had a lively discussion about reconciliation, the gospel of Christ, concerns about CRT, and how some people use Dr. Shenvi's work as a weapon! As some of you may know, Dr. Shenvi is a figurehead praised (and not praised) by many in evangelical circles, and there are some ideas we challenge each other on via social media. This session was recorded in August 2020, and was originally intended as exclusive content for our patrons, but we've decided to release it as a 'bonus' episode for our extended audience. Enjoy!

Yo, Southside Tribe! Welcome to the next episode of our CRT to the glory of God series! First and foremost, thank you all for rocking with us this season as we intend to influence the culture to love God and neighbor better! In this episode, we have the dynamic tag team, Dr. Nathan Cartagena and Bradly Mason back with us to do a full-out masterclass on some primary sources, court cases, defining terms, responses to allegations, and all the while, pushing us to be Christ-like, merciful, and to seek the God of mercy Himself! Pull up Google and hold on tight!

What's going on, family?! Welcome back as we continue our series on critical race theory, to the glory of God! This time we are joined by our brother Dr. Nathan Luis Cartagena of Wheaton College, as he parses through some of his experiences as a Puerto Rican and Caucasian man in America, as well as his introduction to CRT. Dr. Cartagena also shares intimate details of his relationship with his Southern grandmother, who was raised and 'discipled ' in the Jim and Jane Crow era, as well as his desire for believers to depend on Holy Spirit to guide and shape us in ways that will make us better lovers of Christ and neighbor. Disclaimer: this is not an apologetic for CRT. We are not proponents of the discipline of Critical Theory, or any of its counterparts. We are defenders of truth, wherever it may be found. Hold on to your butts!!

What's going on, family?! This is Part 2 of our series engaging CRT to the glory of God, featuring our brother Bradly Mason, who has actually spoken with and studied several of the founders of CRT, and will prayerfully bring some clarity to this big mess of a "culture war" out here in the streets. Here we discuss much about Voddie Baucham's recent book 'Fault Lines', as well as the many misconceptions equating those thinking and talking about 'social holiness', with walking away from faith in Christ. Bradly also shares an exclusive story about how Ameen helped shape his own change of heart towards these issues years ago! Buckle up!

Southside Tribe, welcome to our series! If you've had your ear to the street in any regard, you have probably heard the term, Critical Race Theory. There is a recent push by the mainstream American church to demonize anything that concerns racism, white supremacy, or diversity, by calling it "CRT". And in doing so, they are grossly misrepresenting (in some cases, outright lying on) the scholars who originated the discipline. The purpose of this series is namely to inform the confused, and equip allies who see and understand Jesus' heart for the marginalized and oppressed in any society. Disclaimer: this is not an apologetic for CRT. We are not proponents of the discipline of Critical Theory, or any of its counterparts. We are defenders of truth, wherever it may be found. We are joined by brother Isaiah Thompson from Rapzilla for this first convo! Come rock with us!!

What's going on, family?! We recently had a dope convo with our bro, Ruslan, the Armenian entrepreneur and rapper, who is a Christian, and also a Christian rapper (y'all should get that). He even canceled his meeting with Trump to meet with us! We discuss some of the 'hot takes' from Ruslan's own podcast, the wisdom that Jesus taught, the Christian hip-hop movement: its recent history and new trajectory. So come rock with us, and then go run up "Church Clap"!!

Southside Tribe! The hits just keep coming, as we continue this season with Satanic Panic! We begin with the recent super-controversial release of Lil Nas X's music video and sneaker, that were "laced" with abundant, sensational demonic imagery. We move on to answer the oft-asked question, "What's up with the skull?!", and tackle superstition, how to get wisdom, Galatians Chap 5, and the real mission of Satan. Grab your bible and press play!

What up, family?! The long-awaited next episode is finally here! And on our brand new set! This time we are addressing some of the aftermath and verdict of the murder trial of former officer Derek Chauvin, as well as a recent push to demonize the discipline of empathy for neighbor, namely surrounding the death of George Floyd. Come rock with us as we look to the Scriptures and seek God's counsel on the matter! Hold on to your butts!

What up, family?! In this episode, we sit down with author and professor, Dr. Esau McCaulley!

We had an encouraging and hilarious time discussing his book "Reading While Black", as well as touching on God's Word, the experience of Jesus on Earth, social location, and many aspects detailed in the book. So cook you up some grits (however you like it), hit the play button and rock with us!
