  • Soul School-Lesson 61: Peace and Conflict - Spark My Muse
The opposite of Peace is not war or conflict. Today, I delve into where peace must begin, what it pushes into and through, and what has to happen for it to be kept. Drilling down into the nature of Peace, the second theme of Advent (last week was Hope) can help us gain a firmer foundation for the whole year–internally and externally.

Excellent links and related reading resources with seasonal reflections can be found in the Show Notes at https://patreon.com/sparkmymuse and cost $1 (per month). Thank you for tuning in!

  • Esp 90: The Magic, Power, Genetics, and Learnability of Charisma
As we will find out today, Charisma has a kind of magic and it can have a dark side: A diligent and intelligent person with know-how can be disregarded for a leadership position in favor of a challenger who is merely charismatic, especially when times are uncertain–whether in business, politics, communities, organizations, or other difficult circumstances and situations.

Matthew Hutson, accomplished Science writer, author, and returning guest, lets us in on the fascinating stories and studies behind the charms and powers of CHARISMA. What Charisma ACTUALLY is will likely surprise you as much as it did me; AND 50% of the traits are GENETIC. Do you possess them? More importantly, can Charisma possibly be learned to optimize one's life and future? Find out how those experiments came out and how you can benefit.

Time-stamped SHOW NOTES are now available for $1 per month at Patreon.com/sparkmymuse and include important links to websites, articles, other episodes, and much more. You can also find at link at the program website SparkMyMuse.com

  • Soul School-Lesson 60: What You Don't Know About HOPE
If you've been down, weary, cynical, or uncertain, your hope may be in short supply. Every human needs hope. It's how our species has survived. This week is the first week of Advent and the very beginning of the observed Christian calendar: the focus is HOPE. This theme is reflected on in a deeper way to inspire at greater sense of it to last the whole year through. Today, on Soul School, I talk about a counter-intuitive tactic for gaining HOPE we rarely consider–and something about the "mechanics" of this concept of hope that is rooted in empirical science and vetted through countless human experiences and spiritual and community practices that have helped millions of humans through the ages.

Thank you for listening in. To inspire HOPE, please share the episode!

  • Eps 89: Exploring Passive-Agression, guest Dr Leon Seltzer
There's no murky and perilous terrain like a passive-aggressive encounter. In some cases, a person may seem to intensionally forget something important, or work behind-the-scenes to subtly manipulate you, or try to get you to read his or her mind by a snide verbal torpedo or strange innuendo and then perhaps grow sullen if you don't get their drift–and if you ask for a clearer explanation, emotional honesty or for them to explain their intent, they will deny any of your concerns or suspicions and prolong the mind games. Passive-agression comes out in many ways, but the effects are long-ranging.

My guest Leon Seltzer opens up this confusing and complex interpersonal or relationship booby-trap. Together we uncover its origins and how to avoid it in ourselves (we are all guilty of doing in some way, sometimes), and we discuss how to navigate through it when we encounter it. ( If we left any of your questions about passive-agression unanswered, please submit your inquiries and we will revisit the topic at a later date. Email me at contact [at] sparkmymuse.com or send a question to me on TWITTER @lisadelay )

Show Notes contain all the episode highlights and links to Dr Seltzers articles on the topic and can be found at the Patron page: PATREON.COM/SPARKMYMUSE

Thank you for listening to the program and may your future encounters move toward the Golden Mean Dr Seltzer speaks of, and be more joyous and fruitful.
