  • #293: What Am I Missing?

"We keep missing the moment that we’re in" - Pema Chodron. I have loved this quote since the first day I read it many years ago. Yes, the quote has inspired me, but yet I still miss so many moments.

    • I still get stuck in my head over trivial matters. • I still get caught up in busyness.• I still get distracted by technology and other shiny objects.

In this episode I share a moment when my busyness came to a full stop.

I was sitting at the edge of the Long Island Sound with my mother and daughters and I felt a moment—as it was happening—a moment so precious, so amazing and yet so ordinary.

It took me almost 57 years to feel this special moment to not miss this moment, one that had occurred so many, many times in my life.

I think it might surprise you. Let me know if it does!

  • #292: Busyness Exaggerated

Do you fake your busyness? Are you full of your own self-importance? I asked myself this question and, ouch, the answers sure did sting. In this episode, I talk about how we fear feeling “less than” or inferior so we compensate by telling people we are “crazy busy.” And, we do this all of the time! So, what are the signs that you might be exaggerating your busyness? Tune in and find out.

  • #291: Bending Attention [Guided Practice]

[Guided Practice] Becoming familiar with where your attention drifts is the first step in training your mind to stay focused and present. In this open awareness practice, we will get to know what holds our mind and name how our attention wanders and bends. The result? When we get to know our mental patterns in practice, we become aware of how these habits impact our daily lives. And, it's in knowing them that we can change them.

  • #289: The Burden of Stuff

Stuff… it weighs us down, it holds us back. What happens when we get rid of stuff? What happens when we hoard stuff? What is going on in the psychology of stuff?

In this episode, I talk about my changing relationship with stuff and the unleashed freedom I’ve experience from living with less. And, how having too much—physical, mental or emotional stuff, crowds our mind and dampens our energy.

Does your life sometimes feel like The Truman Show? In this episode, I talk about edges and self-created boundaries. Like Truman, our lives feel constrained by hidden boundaries lurking just beyond our current awareness—limitations created by our mental patterns and stuck beliefs.
