The power of President George Washington's parting words.   Wait until you hear what President Washington had to say about patriotism, partisanship, and America's role in the world.    In 1796, President Washington faced a difficult decision: He knew he did not want to serve another term as president. He felt both confident in the foundation of the new United States of America, yet concerned about the future.  So, Pres.
