Spiegel & Holmes Show

Danny Parkins, Matt Spiegel and the crew opened their show by asking this: Remember when the "King of the Mush" Parkins killed tall man Mark Eaton? The former Utah Jazz center died this past weekend in a bicycle crash. He was 64. And we talked about him on the show LAST FRIDAY.

In the final hour, Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel listened back to audio from Hit & Run this past weekend in which Spiegel and Marquee Sports Network analyst Carlos Pena tried to "fix" baseball via the launch angle. Then, we had a discussion about the difference in the effort exerted in the NBA playoffs compared to all other professional leagues. And is Score midday host Dan Bernstein trying to cheat our home run pool? Possibly!

In the second hour, Danny Parkins, Matt Spiegel and the crew turned their attention to a recent trend. In an event that's a surprise to absolutely no one, Parkins was on the air when a White Sox player was injured. It's Parkins' fault. Later, Score football expert Hub Arkush joined the show to discuss his deep dive into the numbers correlated to rookie quarterbacks. We also reminded him that if the Bears' starting quarterback in Week 1 turns out to be someone who wasn't on the team's roster last year, he has to let Parkins write a column for Pro Football Weekly.

Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel opened their show by discussing how athletes are starting to act more like themselves. White Sox right-hander Lance Lynn called himself an "asshole" while Knicks guard Derrick Rose said basketball has just become too "soft." Also, Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson are pairing up against Aaron Rodgers and Bryson DeChambeau in the latest installment of "The Match" -- and they've been roasting one another on social media.

In the final hour, Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel discussed how Bears rookie receiver Dazz Newsome is a national treasure and why his Chicago radio home is on the afternoon show. It's not on middays with Dan Bernstein and Leila Rahimi. Let's get that straight.

In the second hour, Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel were joined by White Sox pitching coach Ethan Katz, who coached White Sox ace Lucas Giolito and Cardinals ace Jack Flaherty when they were in high school in California. Giolito and Flaherty will square off for the first time in the big leagues Tuesday evening. Later, Jon Morosi of MLB Network joined the show to discuss the latest national baseball headlines.

Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel opened their show by welcoming on Richard Sterban of the Oak Ridge Boys. Sterban is a singer and close friend of umpire Joe West, who will set the MLB record for the most games umpired when he works the White Sox-Cardinals game Tuesday evening.

In the final hour, Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel wondered does anyone have the courage to tell White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf that "enough is enough"? There's a good chance the only way manager Tony La Russa will leave the dugout is if he makes that decision on his own. Then, O.J. Simpson shared his thoughts on Phil Mickelson winning the PGA Championship, and we took a deep dive into Parkins' numbers on Peloton.

In the third hour, Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel discussed how Fox Sports 1 personality Shannon Sharpe called Falcons star receiver Julio Jones on live television earlier in the morning and got him to admit he has no interest in returning to Atlanta. After that, we heard from White Sox manager Tony La Russa ahead of his reunion with the St. Louis Cardinals. And then, our own Bruce Levine sang "Happy Birthday" to Score teammate David Haugh on Inside the Clubhouse over the weekend. You need to hear it.

It got a little wild in the second hour with Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel. The Oak Ridge Boys are honoring umpire Joe West, and we found out who Pat Mannelly’s step-mom is. Also, executive producer Shane Riordan was giving away his White Sox-Cardinals tickets for this evening. Earn them! Then, how good did it feel to see full crowds at both the PGA Championship and Knicks-Hawks game? We also got to consume the one and only Alex Rodriguez on Sunday Night Baseball, so sound magician Chris Tannehill had all the audio you might have missed. And, Shane and Cubs relief pitcher Andrew Chafin are going to set a couch on fire.
