I spent many weeks in therapy griping about everything that was bothering me. My therapist kept telling me she was ready to guide me through The Presence Process when I was ready to receive it. But only when I was ready could we begin. I resisted and resisted and resisted until finally I hit my breaking point. I needed to make a change and if this book was how it was going to happen, then so be it.
Nearly 5 years later, my copy of The Presence Process by Michael Brown sits on my nightstand, completely marked in notes of all colors from each time I’ve gone through it. It is my manual. And I am recommending it to you… but only if you’re ready for it.

Back in 2017, I quit my customer service job to take a week of time to come back to my sense of self. After one week, I felt calm, I built a routine and I completely changed my outlook on life. For a long time I was struggling with my morning routine. I loved my morning routine and I was working my dream job, so why was I having such a hard time getting out of bed everyday? Because I was tired! I wasn’t dedicating the energy to my nighttime routine to get the most restful sleep I could. I used to really struggle with my mental health. There was a point when my thoughts were so overwhelming I didn’t know how to cope with them. But my journey through psychotherapy left me with a few lifestyle practices to help me get to the root cause of my emotions and learn how to quiet my mind. When I first heard the idea of starting a gratitude practice, I thought it sounded a little frilly too… in fact when I tried to start my practice in a daily notebook, I thought it didn’t resonate with me. But I’ve found a few easier tricks and techniques for incorporating a daily gratitude practice into my routine organically and it has made a significant difference on my overall outlook on life. Since I’ve started a gratitude practice, I find it so much easier to focus on the positive and work through the negative instead of letting it manifest into deeper emotions or illnesses.
