He says if Stankoven can take that next step forward like Wyatt Johnston did last year, watch for him to have a massive season. Then he pivots to Arttu Hyry’s performance this preseason and how he has made Jim Nill look like a genius for this signing.
Stars beat the Avalanche 4-2 and remain undefeated in the preseason. Host Gavin Spittle talks about what the Stars announcers discussed and how they want to see the Stars play better at home this season. Gavin says he would like to see four more wins at home this year compared to last year. Also talks about how he wants to see more consistency in scoring and on the power play this season. He breaks down the performances from the players in this game against Colorado. He really likes Kole Lind and is fascinated by Seattle not re-signing him. Spits and Suds is joined by US figure skating championships gold medalist Danny O’Shea. On October 18-20 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, it’s the 2024 Skate America event. Host Gavin Spittle had asks Danny why he played all the sports he played except for hockey. Danny talks about his journey in sports and getting into figure skating. He explains the difference between ice hockey skates and figure skating skates. Danny peels the curtain back for everyone and explains how figure skaters can find their partners to work with. He explains the art of skating and how figure skaters are now helping NHL players as well as amateur hockey players with their skating. Danny also talks about how people can attend a free skating clinic on October 5th, at Dallas Figure Skating Club, at both their McKinney location and their Euless location. Danny shares lots of stories and his enjoyment for skating on this edition of Spits and Suds!
The Stars win again in the preseason after a 5-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild. Host Gavin Spittle goes through some player nuggets and talks about the depth of this Stars team. He goes through three Forwards that could make the roster, between Arttu Hyry, Oskar Bäck and Cole Lind. Gavin says he can’t wait to see regular season Logan Stankoven after the performances he’s had in the preseason, Gavin says just wait until it’s regular season for Stankoven. And he had to talk about the Matt Dumba hit on Devin Shore in the game.
The Stars trailed the Avs 2-1 headed into the third period but were able to come away with a 3-2 win thanks to a game winning goal in the final second from Lian Bichsel.
