It's India vs Pakistan! Again! But is there enough buzz around the mother of all cricket rivalries returning after seven months? Or is it going to be a no-contest, considering an in-form India pitted against Pakistan, who lost to minnows USA earlier in the week. Will the T20 World Cup match in New York live up to its billing? Or will the lopsided conditions on a drop-down pitch emerge as the decisive factor? Will Virat Kohli be the king yet again or will Rishabh Pant at No 3 turn out to be India's masterstroke? Watch Aditya Joshi (https://x.com/aditya1387) and Amol Karhadkar (https://x.com/karhacter), The Hindu's sports journalist, discuss it in a special episode and tell us who is your favourite for Sunday night.

Siddharth Mhatre is naturally right-handed. His father is a big Brian Lara fan. So, when Siddharth started batting at 3, his father taught him how to bat left-handed. Now he is an elegant south-paw batter. Similarly, he is naturally an off-spinner. But one day when there were no left-arm spinners in his college nets, he tried his hand at bowling left-arm spin and bowled fairly well. Seeing his accuracy, his coach encouraged him to bowl left-arm spin. Today, looking at the batter in front, Siddharth can seamlessly switch between bowling off-spin and left-arm orthodox spin. He grew up in Uran in Raigad district. The proximity to Mumbai led him to play most of his age-group cricket in Mumbai but he never really got an opportunity in Mumbai’s ultra-competitive environment. He moved to Maharashtra and had an impressive 2023 Maharashtra Premier League (MPL). He even made his debut for the state in all three formats last season. On the eve of MPL 2024, Siddharth shares his journey on Kattyawarchya Gappa with Amol Gokhale…

The United States of America and the West Indies are the co-hosts of the 2024 T20 World Cup. The USA will host only eight games out of 43 in this World Cup, but one can feel that the entire tournament is happening in the States. However, cricket needs the USA more than the other way around. What financial windfall will cricket see with those eight games and how do they compare to other ‘American sports?’ What does this event mean with Los Angeles set to host the 2028 Olympics, which will see cricket at the summer Olympics. For the first time, 20 teams are participating in the World Cup, a new record for the sport. The fate of India and Pakistan will drive the success or failure of this mega event. However, these two subcontinental giants are not the only teams in the fray. England are the defending champions and are placed in the same group as ODI World Cup winners Australia. Hosts West Indies are in the same group as New Zealand and Afghanistan. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa and the Netherlands are in the same group. Who are the favourites for the title? Amol Gokhale, Aditya Joshi and The Hindu’s sports journalist Amol Karhadkar take a look at various aspects of the 2024 T20 World Cup on Weekly Katta…

Pratik Athavale would refuse to go to bed as a kid because he always wanted to play a game of cricket with his father before sleeping. One day a game of Gully cricket resulted in a few broken window panes and his father sent him to a cricket ground. That’s how his cricketing journey started. He played for Nashik District Cricket Association in invitation matches of Maharashtra Cricket Association. He represented Pune University at university level and even went to Mumbai to play in Kanga League. However, when he realised that opportunities won’t come his way in Indian cricket, he took the opportunity that came his way.  He took a job in Oman and started playing cricket in that Gulf country. His performances meant that he was selected for the national team as soon as he became eligible to play. Pratik repaid the faith shown by Oman and helped them secure a ticket to the T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA. Oman are in the same group as the defending champions England and Australia and that still feels like a dream for Pratik. However, he is determined that Oman isn’t there just to make up the numbers. Pratik shares his less travelled route to the World Cup with Amol Karhadkar, sports journalist, The Hindu, on Kattyawarchya Gappa…

Saurabh Netravalkar’s story is uniquely ‘typical’. Like every other Mumbai cricketer, he had to juggle between cricket, education & Mumbai locals. Saurabh progressed through age-group cricket and represented India at the 2010 U-19 World Cup alongside KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and Jaydev Unadkat to name a few. At the same time, he completed his engineering but rejected a job offer to focus on his cricketing dream. However, the fierce competition meant that he never cemented his place in the side. At that point, he decided to turn back on cricket and moved to the USA for higher education. Even today his bread and butter is his job in a MNC as a software developer. But what has changed? He went back to cricket after moving to the States. Today, he is part of the USA squad for the T20 World Cup and will likely play against India on June 12. Saurabh Netravalkar shares his story of cricket and the American dream running parallel like tracks of Mumbai local on Kattyawarchya Gappa with Amol Karhadkar…  @saurabhnetravalkar750
