The suspense over India's squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 is finally over, with the 15-member team and four standbys having been announced on April 30. Do you think this squad has the wherewithal to end India's cricket team's prolonged drought for a World title? Here's our take, thanks to Amol Gokhale and Amol Gokhale, The Hindu's seasoned sports journalist.

The curious case of Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA). The DDCA is frequently in the news for the wrong reasons rather than the right ones. However, DDCA has nurtured some generational talents, who have gone on to represent Indian cricket at the highest level. The culture of Delhi Cricket is something as revered as Mumbai Cricket. Virender Sehwag, Ashish Nehra, Virat Kohli, Ishant Sharma and Rishabh Pant are some of the contemporary gems produced by Delhi. Why there's such an aura of Delhi cricket? Vijay Lokapally, a veteran sports journalist, who has worked for over four decades in Delhi, sheds light on the good, the bad and the ugly side of DDCA in this candid unmissable conversation with Amol Karhadkar, sports journalist, The Hindu, on Kattyawarchya Gappa...

The selection committee meeting for Team India’s World Cup squad is always up for a huge debate. The deadline to submit the preliminary squad is May 1 and the team news could be out anytime soon. Only a handful of players are certain of their berth in the World Cup squad, but there could be some jostling for remaining positions. Against that backdrop, Sports Katta organised a selection committee meeting convened and chaired by Team Sports Katta member Amol Gokhale. Members of the selection committee are - Aditya Joshi, team Sports Katta; Amol Karhadkar, Sports Journalist, The Hindu and Shardul Kadam, Amuk Tamuk Podcast Network.

Sanjay Dhas knew that if he were blessed with a baby boy, he would name him after legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar. He did name his son - Sachin. He probably had foreseen that Sachin Dhas would become a cricketer as well. Sachin remembers playing with only bat and ball, nothing else. He started playing cricket at four and played his first invitation match at six. Coming from a small village like Beed, he rose through the ranks of age-group cricket in Maharashtra. With his unmistakable talent, he was named in the India squad for the U-19 World Cup. India lost the World Cup final to Australia but Sachin was one of the standout performers of the tournament. In this candid conversation on Kattyawarchya Gappa with Amol Gokhale, Sachin talks about his cricketing journey, representing India at the Under-19 level, dealing with the disappointment of a World Cup final loss and making his Ranji Trophy debut for Maharashtra almost immediately along with life and cricket in Beed...

The Indian Premier League (IPL) began in 2008 and in 16 seasons, the league has grown exponentially. The IPL has taken Indian cricket to the next level in every possible way. There have been moments on and off the field that will forever stay in people's memories. The IPL has seen the rise and fall of some superstars.  Some cricketers will always be remembered for their consistency over the years, while others will always be remembered for that one inning or a season. Sports Katta’s IPL special series ‘Ekaach Maaleche Mani’ presented by Rujuta Luktuke and Aditya Joshi, brings you three such names in the second episode of the two-part series. A leggie Rahul Sharma, who starred for now defunct Sahara Pune Warriors, 2012 IPL winner Manvinder Bisla and Sunrisers Hyderabad speedster Umran Malik, who still has a long career ahead but is yet to live up to the expectations…

Virat Kohli scored a 67-ball hundred against the Rajasthan Royals, the joint-slowest hundred in the IPL hundred. His strike rate in that innings was 156.94. However, Rajasthan Royals easily chased the target with Jos Buttler scoring 100* at a strike rate of 172.41. What does that say about their innings? Should strike rate be the only yardstick to judge a batter's performance?

Bablu Patil began his cricketing journey way back in 2004 at 19. However, he knew cricket could not be his only source of livelihood and joined the Maharashtra Police in 2006. However, his love for sports saw him participate in various tournaments as a sprinter with the police force. As part of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), he often had to visit the Naxalite area of Maharashtra -Gadchiroli. Even in that remote area, he organised cricket tournaments for locals. However, his loyalty is to his uniform and not a cricket jersey. Cricket takes a backseat when he is called upon by the State. To live by that principle, he had to miss out on opportunities to play cricket abroad. But he has no regrets. He has seen tennis-ball cricket evolve in the past 20 years. Bablu shares his incredible journey of balancing ‘duty and cricket’ on Kattyawarchya Gappa with Amol Gokhale…
