The 2007-08 India-Australia Test series is more famous for the 'Monkeygate' controversy than cricket. It was alleged that Harbhajan Singh teased Andrew Symonds as a monkey. Since it was a racial charge, the teams had a go at each other in the following Test on multiple occasions. India captain Anil Kumble made a shocking remark that only one team played in the spirit of the game.  after India lost the Sydney Test. At one point, India was on the verge of abandoning the tour and returning home. But thanks to the mediation from the highest echelons of power, the series continued and India went on to register a memorable victory in Perth.
