Coach Mike Brey’s Notre Dame men had a lead on the road for much of last night’s game, but not when it counted. Boston College finished the game on a 17-to-4 run in Chestnut Hill to down Notre Dame 70-to-63, dropping the Irish to 0-and-4 in ACC play. The bright spots for Notre Dame: JJ Starling and Dane Goodwin, each with 16 points in the losing cause. The Irish stay on the road this Saturday to play at North Carolina. In the Big Ten, Tyson Walker’s 21 points paced Michigan State in a 74-to-56 win over Nebraska in East Lansing. In Madison, Wisconsin edged Minnesota 63-60. Tonight: Michigan plays host to Penn State in Ann Arbor, followed by Illinois at Northwestern, both games available on the Big Ten Network.

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin remains in critical condition and on a ventilator after he went into cardiac arrest following a play in the Monday night NFL game in Cincinnati. His uncle says Hamlin was resuscitated twice, once on the field and again at the hospital, as he fights to recover. The game between the Bills and Bengals was suspended, and no makeup date has been announced. Indeed, it’s hard to see a window to make the game up, with the playoffs looming.

Locally, the Mishawaka Cavemen won their 6th straight last night in the Cave against Elkhart. The Cavemen dominated pretty much start to finish in an 80-to 56 win.

NBA: the Bulls host Brooklyn tonight in Chicago. The Indiana Pacers are at Philadelphia.

In hockey, the Detroit Redwings host New Jersey tonight.

A highly anticipated Monday night NFL game is yet to be completed after Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field after making a tackle against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bills say he went into cardiac arrest, and CPR restored his heartbeat before he was taken to a Cincinnati hospital about 20 minutes later. Hamlin remains sedated and in critical condition at last report. The game was suspended, and so far there is no word on whether or when it will resume.

The coming final weekend of the NFL regular season will feature games with nothing more than draft position on the line for the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts, with both teams eliminated from playoff contention. But the story in Detroit is different, as the Lions still have a chance to make the playoffs if they can beat the Packers in Green Bay Sunday night here on Sports Radio 960 WSBT. The Lions would also Seattle to lose at home to the L-A Rams to earn the NFC’s 7th and final playoff spot. The Bears host Minnesota Sunday at one on Z 94.3; the Colts host Houston Sunday at one on 96.1 the Ton.

Purdue got hammered in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando Monday, falling to Brian Kelly’s LSU Tigers 63-to-7. The Boilers were badly undermanned in the wake of transfers and coaching changes.

Notre Dame women’s basketball is now 4th in the AP national poll following Sunday’s 85-48 home win over Boston College. Coach Niele Ivey’s Irish trail only South Carolina, Stanford, and Ohio State in the latest poll released Monday. The Irish next play this Sunday at North Carolina on Live 99.9.

Irish men’s basketball looks for its first ACC conference win in four tries tonight at Boston College. Coach Mike Brey admits those three conference losses make the road to another NCAA tournament berth difficult, saying it would take a strong showing the rest of the regular season, and probably in the ACC tournament as well, to get a bid this year. Tony Simeone has the call starting at 6:30 for a 7 o’clock tipoff tonight on Sports Radio 960 WSBT.

NBA: the Chicago Bulls lost at Cleveland, 145-134. The Indiana Pacers won at home, 122-114 over Toronto.
