On this episode of the Michigan Wild, Nate and Drew Hassler are LOCKED IN for the upcoming deer season! Drew has been going hard planting plots and executing a multi year plan on his property. Creating better access and establishing a hidden plot has been on the top of his list. A few unique strategies have aided in this new plot, including summer burning and creating a creek crossing. Nate finds himself in a different position with his plots this year as the property's crop rotation has been a limiting factor in 2024. However Drew and Nate discuss doing some micro plots within corn fields and standing bean fields. All with the intentions of capitalizing on shooting a buck in October.
Gear is the next topic of conversation for the guys, and they both are excited for the new things they plan on using this fall including broadheads, arrows, saddles, platforms, and backpacks Each summer Nate and Drew both like to fine tune their setups to help aid in becoming more proficient in mobile hunting on their instate and out of state hunts. Talking about gear got the guys fired up for the fall as October 1st is fast approaching along with their November Kansas hunt. Nate dives into the logistics of the Kansas hunt as he intends to make more than 1 trip, to help scout and get an idea of the terrain. Something he hopes helps him and the group get on deer quicker than past years.
Overall the guys have been preparing all summer for this fall and are locked in and ready to go, plans are being executed and the final steps are taking place. In the next few months Nate and Drew will be ready to capitalize on the salmon run and rutting bucks.

This week on the Oklahoma Outdoors Podcast, John recounts his guided fishing trip down in Florida. Redfish were the number one target for the trip, and one of the highest fish on John's bucket list. His Brother in law Logan tagged along and teamed up with Captain Torin of One More Charters. Right off the bat the guys faced challenges with high summer temps and low tide waters. After some time trying to catch bait, they finally went after the big fish and it turned into a pretty epic morning of fishing.
After the fish tale, John talks about his recent trip up to the McAlester Army Ammunition plant to try and learn a little bit about the area before his hunt in November. The base was open for a traditional bow only 3D course that pushed several archers to their limits. John met some great people, learned some valuable information about the hunt itself, and got a feel for the area. The main thing he learned was just how thick the cedar choked timber was, and how getting a clean shot is going to be extremely difficult!

In this week’s episode of The Range Podcast, Ricky and Hollywood talk with Nate Axtman, a sales rep for Proactive Midwest, a sales rep group focused on popular brands in the shooting sports world.
Nate starts with his introduction to hunting as a young man with upland game alongside his family. He started shooting an old recurve bow that his dad owned, which led him to a job at the local Scheel’s sporting goods store in Grand Forks, ND.
Nate is also known as “Snack Boy”. Hollywood begs the question, and Nate reveals the secret to winning the hearts of all the folks around him.
Ricky talks about an upcoming Mule Deer hunt that he and Nate will be partnered up for this upcoming fall. This hunt has been in the making for many years, and the guys briefly discuss the plan and the excitement quickly setting in as the day nears.
Nate then tells a story of struggle, focus, and perseverance that accompanies a recent Pronghorn Antelope Bowhunt. Camping out in a ground blind for 3 days in 90-degree heat, may have led to a bonfire fueled by the sleeping bag and clothing involved.

Both men emphasize how the outdoors provides a therapeutic escape, a place where they can find the peace and clarity they need, away from the stresses and distractions of everyday life. The outdoors becomes a sanctuary, a space where they can reconnect with themselves and find the solace they seek.

In this episode, Dan and Dan Matthews discuss their favorite wild game meals and their love for sweets. They also touch on the topic of energy drinks and the challenges of managing groceries in their households. The conversation transitions to the advancements in hunting equipment and the ease of entry into hunting. In this conversation, the Dan's discuss the use of trail cameras and the impact they have on hunting. They debate whether trail cameras make hunters better or if they simply provide more convenience and information. They also explore why Wisconsin consistently produces big deer despite having a rifle season during the rut. They speculate that Wisconsin's success may be due to a combination of factors, including a large number of hunters, a tradition of hunting big bucks, and the presence of ample cover and agriculture. They express curiosity about the reasons behind Wisconsin's success and suggest further research and conversations with wildlife biologists.
