Welcome to episode #421 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. What do we really know about great ideas, creativity and where they come from? Over the years many people (much smarter than I) have looked at this topic in depth. Some prescribe to the idea that certain people are simply creative, while others are not. Some might say that being creative is a learnable skill. That may be tough for other people to swallow. David Burkus spends a lot of his time thinking about leadership, innovation and strategy. He started work on his first book, The Myths of Creativity - The Truth About How Innovative Companies Generate Great Ideas (which was recently published) upon leaving college, and believes that we tell each other a lot of stories about where creativity comes from... and they're mostly wrong. He contributes regularly in places like Harvard Business Review, Forbes, Psychology Today and 99U. When not speaking or writing, he's also an assistant professor of management at Oral Roberts University, where he teaches courses on organizational behavior, creativity and innovation, and strategic leadership. Enjoy the conversation...
