Still Buffering

We're all in this one together, because we're traveling back to East High for the Spring Musical with all of the High School Musical gang! Rileigh was fully obsessed with this trio of films for years of her childhood, so it's another week of her forcing her siblings into watching/listening to all the things she could not stop talking about as a small teen.

Since it's that kind of year so far and we all needed a nice, relaxing break into the realm of Studio Ghibli, Teylor has brought us Howl's Moving Castle! A new movie for both Sydnee and Rileigh, we're going all in on Howl's fashion influence on Teylor and how good the FOOD in this movie looks. Also, go check out Teylor's cosplay and cocktails video, featuring a Howl look!

In a first in Still Buffering 2.0 history, we all read a whole book! With no pictures! Just words! Sydnee was very into this book from her teendom, so we all took the plunge into the world of Weetzie Bat this week. Also, we learn how to play "Boat."

Well, we've finally done it. We have all succumb to the dance-filled, confusing, wildly popular app of choice among quarantined Gen Z'ers: TikTok. Rileigh has long been under its spell, and now she has managed to pull both of her siblings in with her, and all she wants to know is what side of TikTok they're on and also how many dances they know.

Disclaimer: Yes, we know we had an audio goof this week and Sydnee and Rileigh sound different than they usually do. We're sorry if it affects your listening, and we promise it won't happen again!

Rileigh was unaware of the magical, glorious, internet world of StrongBad until Candlenights this year, so Teylor knew it was their duty to rectify this travesty. Now that Rileigh is significantly more cultured, let's talk about it!

Sydnee finally discovered the key to ending the year-long Groundhog Day situation we've all been in: we all must finally watch Schitt's Creek. So, we all three have done our part, and this is us convincing you to do the same for like 45 minutes.

This is truly the greatest gift Rileigh could have received in 2020: the chance to force her siblings to listen to not one, but two whole Taylor Swift albums and then talk about them with her. Also, Sydnee and Teylor were completely unaware of all the theories and canon surrounding Taylor and her music, so we HAD to get all up in that too.

In a twist of Still Buffering tradition to deeply discuss one piece of media, we've watched all four iterations of the story of The Grinch, and we're making them battle it out to see which one is truly superior. One thing we know for sure, though, is the musical one with Matthew Morrison is DEFINITELY in last place.

In the Smirl family, there are very few holiday traditions, but watching Christmas Vacation and knowing every single word is the most important of the ones we do have. But also, it's 2020, so we have too much time on our hands and it has us thinking (probably too hard) about all the deeper societal implications of the characters and their families so....let's get into THAT.

Sadly, there is no new installment of the Still Buffering classic Christmas tale, The Christmas Prince, this year. BUT! We have a twice as special episode this holiday season, because we're talking about not one, but TWO Princess Switch movies, starring not one, not two, but THREE characters played by Vanessa Hudgens. It's...a lot.
