Still Buffering

This week, we're back on the road with another iconic piece of queer cinema. If I had a nickel every time someone made a movie about three drag queens road tripping together and discovering important truths along the way, I'd have two nickels, and frankly I'd happily have more.

Pride marches on this week on Still Buffering, as we discuss the incredibly important documentary Paris is Burning. Capturing the vibrant high days of the NYC ballroom scene, the birthplace for much of the queer culture we now enjoy. Pay your respects and learn your history, and of course, Protect the Dolls!

This week on Still Buffering, we start our Pride movie review limited series with The Birdcage. This gem from the mid 90's is a glittering diamond of drag and family values that for many young queers was the first glimpse at mainstream acceptance. Join us as we celebrate being your own special creation and HAPPY PRIDE.

Happy...Pride? Ok we didn't really think through having the Minecraft movie be our first offering for the month of gay, but there is a non-zero amount of dudely 69'ing in this film so you know what? We're good. And weirdly so is the movie. Do we fully understand the allure of a chicken jockey? Maybe not, but join us anyway!

It's summer vacation! Perfect time to hide behind your couch from awkward scenarios playing out on your tv. This week we watched the much discussed The Rehearsal, and give our 2 cents. So 4 cents total. Or maybe one cent each. In any case, it's ok to like and also not like things.

What more can we say...? I mean, enough for a podcast episode. This week we're discussing the MF'ing Princess herself, Avril Lavigne. Punk or poseur, she dominated our youth and earned her props. And also ABSOLUTELY wasn't replaced by a clone.

We got a new pope the same week we're talking about a movie about a new pope! Divine intervention? Definitely. Absolutely. Better listen. God said so. Basically.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice, that's what this episode is made of! (Along with some chemical X, of course.) Join us as we discuss The Powerpuff Girls, the oft rebooted girl power trio from our childhood. Were you a Blossom, Buttercup, or a Bubbles? And why did we all grow up to be Hims, Seduca's, and Fuzzy Lumpkins? Join us as we contemplate this and more on this weeks Still Buffering.

This week on Still Buffering we're sating our hunger for new Hunger Games content by watching the 2023 series installment, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. It's like a musical, with added death and class consciousness, but not Les Mis.
