In this episode, Scott interviews Jarret Jones. Jarret has been in the fitness training and Martial Arts business for almost 20 years. Owner of Basin Crossfit, for 11 years now in Midland Tx. Jarret fought professional MMA for 7 years and is still active in BJJ competition regularly having earned a 1st degree Blackbelt.
Jarret has spent his whole life refining his teaching methods and workout routines. Football, baseball, cross-country, and track & field are among the sports in which he has competed throughout his life. After high school, he began training in martial arts and went on to have a seven-year professional MMA career. He is a self-motivated guy who is always looking for the next mental and physical challenge. As a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, he frequently competes at the highest level, runs ultra-marathons, and competes in local CrossFit events. His ambition to assist people through fitness, as well as his quest to learn more, fuels the good community and culture at Basin CrossFit.
His struggle has always been in finding a way to blend his 2 favorite passions of martial arts and fitness. Which has led him to his current endeavor of fitness and nutrition online and virtual coaching program specifically for BJJ and martial arts athletes.
There's something to be said for maintaining a level of consistency. It might mean the difference between succeeding and failing. When it comes to your workout program, consistency is essential if you want to see results. But going to the gym every day isn't enough; you also need to make sure that your routine is sustainable so that you don't burn out. That's where longevity comes in: making sure your regimen can be followed for a long period without becoming too exhausting or stressful.
