    Straight From The Off welcomes John Roche to the podcast. John went from playing knockout pairs on Hawksmoor Park in Fazakerley to playing in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. He played for Holy Name, Skelmersdale, Kirkby Town amongst others but most notably Marine where he had his longest and most successful stint. John won many trophies along the way but modestly refers to himself as ‘Johnny on the spot’ meaning he got lucky. Many would disagree with that. John is fighting against Parkinsons Disease but is determined to live his best life whilst helping others with the condition along the way. He tells us the signs to look out for and how to look out for your friends and team-mates. He tells us tales from all the clubs he played for over the years including one about meeting Pele! and the players he played with and against and throughout those times.

    Straight From The Off welcomes Joe Gibiliru Snr to the Podcast. Joe has had a long and distinguished career in amateur and non league football gathering lots of trophies along the way, he has played for Waterloo Dock, Precscot Cables, Marine, St Helens and Knowsley United amongst others and went on to manage at Prescot, Lucas Sports and St Helens Town. On a Sunday he was a player and manager of the great Nicosia sides that won two FA Sunday Cups in the 90’s and 2000’s. He now works for Liverpool County FA. One of the most decorated amateur footballers of his generation, Tom tells us how playing locally as a kid got him the chance to sign for Tranmere Rovers who had great runs in the FA Youth Cup. He then moved on to Macclesfield Town in the pro ranks playing against the likes of Manchester United featuring Tim Howard and Jonny Evans. Out of the pro game Tom signed for his local team Lobster FC were he scored goals that fired them into the FA Sunday cup semi-finals. Hear about how he moved to rivals Oyster FC, and why they dominated for over a decade, winning two National Cup Finals along the way.     Straight From The Off welcomes Paul Orr to the Podcast. The former Holy Name, Fantail, Kirkby Town and Knowsley United manager tells us his story, and that of the teams he has managed. Paul was the first manager to win back to back FA Sunday Cups, doing so with Fantail FC in the early 80’s. Winning the National Cup is an unbelievable achievement in itself, and retaining it was even better! Paul based his managerial style on the famous ‘Boot Room’ men of Liverpool FC, particularly Bob Paisley and Joe Fagan and his style brought much success to all the teams he has been involved with. He Tells us how his family helped build up Kirkby Town FC and then Knowsley United which even gained his team a place on Match Of The Day for an FA Cup tie at Goodison Park.     Straight From The Off welcomes Phil Stafford to the Podcast. Phil was a driving force in the middle of the park for one of Bootles finest Sunday league teams Dickie Lewis’ also known as Seaburn and The Solly, winning countless league titles in the Crosby premier division. He was integral in the Liverpool County FA Premier Cup winning Seaburn side of 2005 which completed a momentus treble for the club. Phil played for a lot of local clubs at Semi pro level including Bootle, Maghull, Cammel Lairds & AFC Liverpool. He also turned his hand to a succesful managerial career starting out with Maghull and moving on to REMYCA United & Bootle with plenty of up and downs.
