Cryptozoology, or “cryptids” for the common folk, has fascinated humankind for thousands of years, beginning as early as the 15th century BCE. While media has glamorized the field, drawing images of wild-eyed creature-hunters chasing anomalous beasts into the night, cryptozoology is really just the study of unknown, legendary, or extinct animals whose existence or survival is disputed or unsubstantiated. But reports of strange organisms don’t stop at the animal variety. Enter cryptobotany or simply the study of plant cryptids. Just like its animal counterparts, this field of study focuses on the bizarre plants of folklore and legend that have evaded scientific confirmation. While there may not be any captivating security camera footage or blurry photographs of these elusive plants, some reports are surprisingly compelling. It's 420! So join us as we talk about the ancient to recent history of the plant we all love to smoke, eat, vape and any other way we can use it to get stoned. The medicinal properties of the cannabis plant have been known for millennia. As far back as 2800 BC, cannabis was used to treat a vast array of health problems and has a long and colourful history. The use of cannabis originated in central Asia or western China. Early uses of marijuana were largely medicinal, and it was used to treat things like inflammation, malaria, gout, depression, nausea, as an anesthetic and even to suppress sexual desires. Still, there is evidence that some cultures used the psychoactive component of marijuana (THC) for rituals or religious ceremonies. The Strange brew boys are back with their tinfoil hats on as Tomcat and Billy discuss the truth that lies in the skies of the chemtrail conspiracy!   The chemtrail conspiracy theory is the belief that long-lasting condensation trails are "chemtrails" consisting of chemical or biological agents left in the sky by high-flying aircraft, sprayed for nefarious purposes undisclosed to the general public.  Believers in this conspiracy theory say that while normal contrails dissipate relatively quickly, contrails that linger must contain additional substances. Those who subscribe to the theory speculate that the purpose of the chemical release may be solar radiation management, weather modification, psychological manipulation, human population control, biological or chemical warfare, or testing of biological or chemical agents on a population, and that the trails are causing respiratory illnesses and other health problems....  Follow the Madness on Social Media!  Support us on Patreon!  www.patreon.com/strangebrewpodcast www.strangebrewpodcast.com Strange brew's INSTAGRAM: www.instagram.com/strangebrew.podcast/ Strange brew's FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com/strangebrewpod TOMCAT- https://www.instagram.com/theraptilian/ BILLY KIRBY- https://www.instagram.com/billehk ANTON- https://www.instagram.com/h.p_shovekraft/?hl=en Anton's Twitch- Twitch @ invaderdaggett_ttv Strange Brew's Twitch @ strangebrewttv

Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go... And we may have went too far with this one... Our darkest and most disturbing deep dive we may ever do! Sir James Wilson Vincent Savile was an English DJ and television and radio personality who hosted BBC shows including Top of the pops and Jim'll fix it! During his lifetime, he was well known in the United Kingdom for his eccentric image and his charitable work. After his death, hundreds of allegations of sexual abuse and even necrophilia made against him were investigated, leading the police to conclude that he had been a predatory sex offender and possibly one of Britain's most prolific. There had been allegations during his lifetime, but they were dismissed and accusers ignored or disbelieved. Savile took legal action against some accusers.  However, after his death in 2011, a deeply sinister side to his public persona came to light. A U.K. investigation found that Savile sexually abused at least 500 victims throughout the course of his career. Many of the alleged victims were between ages 13 and 15, but some were as young as two years old. Not only did Savile use his star power to prey on children, a network of fear reportedly kept anyone from learning the truth about him — until the pedo flood gates opened... Are you a witch or Are you a fairy? Or are you the wife of Michael Cleary? This jump rope rhyme is about Bridget Cleary, an Irish woman who was burned alive by her husband in 1895. Her husband Michael Cleary said he killed her because he believed she was abducted by fairies and replaced by a changeling. Would it be a st Patrick's day without Tomcat getting a little drunk? An extraordinary event in 1967 would practically put the small fishing village of Shag Harbor on the map. Located at the southern tip of Nova Scotia, this rural community would be host to one of the best-documented UFO events of the past 40 years. Named after the "shag," a bird of the cormorant family, the harbour was literally left off most maps of the time, but that would be changed once and for all. The tiny fishing community has always had its stories... stories of giant sea serpents, man-eating squid, and ghost ships. The list of local colours would see one more addition to its list: a story of a visit of a mysterious flying craft of unknown origin. This craft would visit the waters of Shag Harbor, permanently stamping the village's name in the public eye! Easter Island must surely be one of the greatest mysteries of human civilisation. Many theories have been formed over the years about where the original inhabitants came from, why they built hundreds of monumental statues called Moai, how they transported them and why the people who made them eventually died out. Join Tomcat and Anton as they "dig" into this mysterious island that still has people scratching their "heads"!
