Strange Places

In the swamps and skies of Africa’s remote river valleys, locals tell of the Kongamato — a massive, red-winged creature said to resemble a prehistoric pterosaur. From colonial explorers to modern-day eyewitnesses, this legend refuses to die, blurring the line between folklore and paleontology. Is it a living fossil, a misidentified bird, or something far stranger??

North Brother Island is a small, abandoned island in New York City's East River, between the Bronx and Rikers Island. Once home to Riverside Hospital, it was used to quarantine patients with contagious diseases like smallpox and typhoid—most infamously "Typhoid Mary" Mallon. After the hospital closed, it briefly housed WWII veterans and then drug rehab programs before being completely shut down in the 1960s. Today, it's off-limits to the public and overgrown, a decaying time capsule of crumbling buildings, medical history, and urban isolation. Some say it is haunted. Is it? Or is there another explanation entirely?

The “Ghost Blimp” refers to the mysterious 1942 incident involving U.S. Navy blimp L-8, which returned to land near San Francisco without its two-man crew. The blimp lifted off on a routine anti-submarine patrol during WWII but was later found drifting aimlessly and damaged—with the engines running, doors open, and all safety gear intact. No trace of the crew was ever found, and despite extensive investigations, their disappearance remains unsolved. The L-8 became known as the "Ghost Blimp" and remains one of the strangest aviation mysteries in American history.

In 1975, logger Travis Walton vanished in the Arizona woods after allegedly being struck by a beam of light from a UFO. His co-workers witnessed the event and reported it, sparking a massive manhunt. Walton reappeared five days later, claiming he had been abducted and experimented on by extraterrestrials. His story became one of the most famous—and controversial—alien abduction cases in history, inspiring books, investigations, and films. But is it real? On this episode we are setting out to get to the bottom of this story once and for all.
