In 1897, Zona Heaster Shue’s death was ruled natural… until her ghost allegedly appeared to her mother, insisting she’d been murdered by her husband. The testimony of a spirit became the backbone of a courtroom trial, making this West Virginia haunting the only case in U.S. history where the word of a ghost was actually brought forth and accepted as legitimate evidence, and helped convict a killer. Was it really intervention from beyond the grave, or a clever courtroom tactic?

With a dark history of death, despair, and a legendary visit from the Devil himself, the mansion’s crumbling halls are said to echo with restless spirits. It’s a place where myth and reality blur, leaving behind a legacy of fear that still chills visitors to this day, but are the stories true? Has the place actually been visited, and is haunted, by the devil himself? Let's try and find out. Once and for all.

This week, we tackle one of the most bizarre alien abduction stories ever told. This one could be just another drop in the bucket of stories we have tackled, but this particular one has evidence. Real evidence. Evidence that, if I can get to the bottom of, this case can be earth-shattering.

In this episode, we explore the chilling legend of Sir Edwin Landseer’s ‘Man Proposes, God Disposes,’ a painting of polar bears scavenging the doomed Franklin expedition. Housed at Royal Holloway, University of London, students and staff believe it brings bad luck during exams, so it’s traditionally covered with a Union Jack. It has been responsible for multiple exam failures, feelings of intense fear and dread, as well as a purported suicide. We dive into the history, the folklore, and the eerie aura that keeps this painting shrouded in superstition. Superstition is one thing, but is it truly cursed?

In this episode of Strange Places, we dive into the controversial case of Billy Meier — a man who claimed decades of face-to-face contact with extraterrestrials, producing photographs, prophecies, and stories that split believers and skeptics alike. Was he a prophet, a hoaxer, or something in between? Let’s separate the facts from the noise.
