Irene Schindler is a published essayist. She helps college applicants identify compelling ideas for their admissions essays and present those ideas in a student’s own best voice. Working with students to examine their interests and enthusiasms and exploring what they already know, what they aspire to do, and what ignites their passion for further education is a key element of what she loves most about her job.

Irene has studied speechwriting, creative writing, and storytelling at Georgetown University and has assisted college students with their application essays for elite colleges across the nation.

She holds degrees in communications and government from George Washington University and worked in communications and policy on Capitol Hill for many years prior to joining College Bound.

In our conversation, Irene and I discussed:

How younger students can prepare themselves to be better college applicants

  • The importance of intentional involvement in high school

  • How students can stand out with their college admissions essay

  • Strategies for students struggling with their college essay

  • Essay ideas for students who aren’t sure of their college major
