    Publisher's Summary:
An exotic trip to Iceland puts Teddy the zookeeper in the middle of the murder case of a wealthy bird watcher.
California zookeeper Theodora Bentley travels to Iceland to pick up an orphaned polar bear cub destined for the Gunn Zoo's newly installed Northern Climes exhibit. The trip is intended to be a combination of work and play. But on day two, while horseback riding near a picturesque seaside village, Teddy discovers a man lying atop a puffin burrow, shot through the head. The victim is identified as American bird watcher Simon Parr, winner of the largest Powerball payout in history. Is Teddy a witness - or a suspect? Others include not only Parr's wife, a famed suspense novelist, but fellow members of the birding club Parr had generously treated to their lavish Icelandic expedition. Hardly your average birders, several of them have had serious brushes with the law back in the states.
Guessing that an American would best understand other Americans, police detective Thorvaald Haraldsson grudgingly concedes her innocence and allows Teddy to tag along with the group to volcanoes, glaciers, and deep continental rifts in quest of rare bird species. But once another member of the club is murdered and a rockfall barely misses Teddy's head, Haraldsson forbids her to continue. She ignores him and, in a stunning, solitary face-off with the killer in Iceland's wild interior, concludes an investigation at once exotic, thrilling, and rich in animal lore.

    Silly Fun
Another over-the-top zoo mystery, this time in Iceland. Webbs writing is often clunky as she fills in information from previous installments, and as she tries to give a tourists intro to Iceland. Not my favorite of the series, and not for sticklers for elegant prose, but in the same fun vein as Joan Hesss mysteries.
    Very Entertaining!
I so enjoy the Gunn Zoo mysteries! While this one did not take place at the Gunn Zoo, I found it a very interesting side trip for Teddy. I loved reading about Iceland and its various creatures. It was an engaging mystery, with interesting characters. As always, Hillary Huber did a very nice job of narrating. Well worth the wait for the audio version!
I waited a long time for this book
This is a very enjoyable series. The characters are always well developed and the plot is always engaging.

Ex-Buddhist monk and ex-LAPD officer turned private eye Tenzing Norbu is back with a new case, a new love, and a whole new set of problems in this fresh installment in the Tenzing Norbu mystery series.
In The Second Rule of Ten, Norbu investigates the unexplained death of his former client, Hollywood mogul Marv Rudolph, and searches for the sister, lost during World War II, of wizened Los Angeles philanthropist Julius Rosen. With two cases and an unforeseen family crisis that sends him back to Tibet, Ten finds himself on the outs with his best buddy and former partner, Bill, who is heading the official police investigation into Marv's death. Cases and crises start to collide. When Ten mistakenly ignores his second rule, he becomes entangled in an unfortunate association with a Los Angeles drug cartel. As he fights to save those he loves, and himself, from the deadly gang, he also comes face to face with his own personal demons. Working through his anger at Bill, doubts about his latest lady love, and a challenging relationship with his father, Ten learns to see the world in a new light - and realizes that in every situation the truth is sometimes buried beneath illusion.

    Finding Balance
Money talks and makes enemies - especially when temptation knocks!
Ten delves deeper in his roots and tries to balance his relationships, jobs, and moral vs spiritual obligations.
My clips to include in this review disappeared, but there were a couple things that were confusing or contradictory.
Overall, I still really like this morally-driven detective. His friends are wonderfully staying within their personalities and not fluid, to further the plot.
Oh! That was one. At a rave party, the technologically challenged is able to access the net via - what internet? Unless it was mistakenly edited out, there was no mention of wifi in the dilapidated area, did not have a wifi card or connected to a perdomal hot spot.
But anyway. Tank continues to be a warm feline friend who helps center Ten. Ten has a new love interest. And Bills wife has a stronger supportive role.
The series grows in strength and addiction as Ten grows up and finds his way and identity.
Jeremy is a very talented voice actor, solidly giving each character their own presence and accent, as required.
I may pick up the next book sooner rather than later!
    Enthralling story; virtuoso performance
The story engaged me from the start and the narration was masterful. I will be listening to the next in the series shortly.
    Wonderful!
I LOVE the Tenzing Norbu mystery series. This one was very well played out. Definitely worth the listen, very insightful all the way through! Kept me guessing.
    Love these books!
A very enjoyable (if a little unusual, mix of Buddhism and good old fashioned detection! If you like cats, vegetarian food and a detective with more, and more complicated, hang-ups than usual, a fascinating back-story, and beautifully read, then these books are definitely for you!

    Publisher's Summary:
The ultrawealthy families of Chouteau Forest may look down on a woman like death investigator Angela Richman, but they also rely on her. When a horrific car crash kills a Forest teenager, Angela is among the first on the scene. Her investigation is hardly underway, however, when she suffers a series of crippling strokes. Misdiagnosed by the resident neurologist, Dr. Gravois, and mended by gauche yet brilliant neurosurgeon Dr. Jeb Travis Tritt, Angela faces a harrowing recovery.
It's a drug-addled, hallucinating Angela who learns that Dr. Gravois has been murdered...and the chief suspect is the surgeon who saved her life. Angela doesn't believe it, but can she trust her instincts? Her brain trauma brings doubts that she'll ever recover her investigative skills. But she's determined to save Dr. Tritt from a death-row sentence - even if her progress is thwarted at every turn by a powerful and insular community poised to protect its own.

    Death investigator confused by stroke-interesting
What about Tanya Ebys performance did you like?
I thoroughly enjoy Tanya Eby's performances and she did an excellent job with this book as expected.
    Any additional comments?
This was certainly an interesting book, a slightly different storyline gives this book the edge it needs to make it less predictable and more enjoyable. The protagonist Angela Richmon is the death scene investigator for a well to do community. When two of the county sweethearts get into a horrible accident she is sidetracked with a stroke, misdiagnosed and then another. When the first doctor has a heart attack Angela proves it was actually a murder. In her state of confusion she then sets out to find the real murderer and motive, exonerate the innocent and save herself as well.
This was not the most suspenseful book I've ever listened to but is definitely worth a listen.
If you found this review helpful please indicate so.
    Thank You.
    Well Written
This is a well written and suspenseful book with multidimensional characters and a well developed plot.
    so disappointed
I really wanted to like this story. The description sounded great. I work in health care and really enjoy mysteries in such familiar settings. I did not like this book. The story was not plausible. You cannot inject potassium into people quietly. it is so incredibly painful that people have pulled IVs out just to stop the pain. The smaller the vein the more painful
    - in the dark, without waking a person up, the bad guy was able to find a tiny vein in a foot (painful, painful site) then inject an incredibly painful solution and not one victim yelled, screamed, cried or even woke up? and despite the telemetry that is monitoring the heart - no one noticed those huge wave spikes or the sudden asystole?
-A person is injected by an untrained person (in a room full of people who are intently watching the victim) - an incredible painful substance that will cause your heart to seize and yet with a mild sedative this occurred with no one noticing.
Often I read errors, it's fine. I don't expect perfection but the basic premise was so far off that I couldn't really get into the characters and their relationships b/c I was constantly distracted by the unrealistic method.
    Way too Wordy
Would you try another book from Elaine Viets and/or Tanya Eby?
    Yes.

Ethics 101 over and over and over again
You know I like when an author has a message, but what I don't like is when said author thinks his readers are too stupid to pickup on the message so he or she feels motivated to beat you over the head with it for at least 10 of the 24 chapters in the book.
When the author was relating the actual story this book was interesting, entertaining, and enjoyable but when the author felt like he was either called to preach or teach I was ready to figuratively pitch everything in the fireplace.
About burning a credit...not again for me. If an author wants to preach or teach, don't list the book under mysteries
    Disappointed with Jonathan Stone
I have enjoyed the author's other novels. The crazy plots were fun and surprising. Here, after a really fun start, the plot gets in the way. The twists and twists and twists go too far. The life described was simply too ridiculous. Unless the main character was in a coma for twenty years, he would have known that things could not have been as they seemed. And the MORAL OF STORY is repeated, in excruciating directness, OVER AND OVER AND OVER. I get it, Mr. Stone, I get it. Stop preaching! Subtlety is the secret of great magic acts...and of writing. There was nothing subtle about Two for The Show. That said, I liked his other novels so much that I will read his next one (but will approach with trepidation).
The Precise Moment It All Went Wrong
Near the end of Two For The Show, Jonathan Stone writes, "I realize the precise moment it probably went wrong -- the moment my mother got pregnant." And what exactly went wrong? "They wouldn't tell me," Stone writes in the voice of his narrator. "I'll never know." The moment it "probably" went wrong -- he says "probably"! Why? We'll "never know".
Yes, that's right folks. In the author's own words. After hours of endless twists and reveals -- a dozen or more -- each more preposterous than the last, going from the ridiculous to the just plain stupid, Stone tells us that it all started when the narrator was born and it ended for reasons he will never know. And then he adds one postscript that says, this is all made up for show, and then another postscript that says, no it's real.
The sound you hear is my jaw dropping to the floor.
This may be the most poorly crafted book I have ever read or heard.

    Oh my God
This is true psychological thriller at its best. The author has to have a dark imagination to come up with this kind of story. And the narrator his voice does justice to the story. At times while listening I felt like I was in the story. Are there really people like this in our world? I wasn't sure if this was based on a true story so had to research it. No it is fiction that comes from the mind of a brilliant author.
I received this free of charge for an honest review.
    heart racing suspense

Tale of an enraging, engaging, eloquint sociopath.

What was one of the most memorable moments of White Is the Coldest Colour?
This entire book was memorable and one I will never forget.
Cynthia Galbraith's sequel in Book 2 will be my next review -
Have you listened to any of Jake Urrys other performances before? How does this one compare?

    Awesome!
Dresden fans rejoice!!! There's a new paranormal- ish private investigator in town! Expertly voiced, from the homicidal Asian woman to the creepy ghosts, to the main male character! I almost didn't stop to review after book one! I bought this book on sale, as a whispersync, based on a Facebook ad. Well worth it, and thoroughly enjoyable! Loved it!
    Modern Sorcery
    Which scene was your favorite?
I thought the mix of magic and mythology was blended masterfully. The plot and sub plots pulled you along page by page and it was easy to be caught up in Jonathan's world. Character development was three dementional and you felt as if you knew each one personally I want to know how the magical world collides with mythology.
    A Great Urban Fantasy!
I received book two and three through audiobook blast for free in exchange for leaving a honest review. I really liked the stories, so I went back and bought book one. Each book ranges from five to seven hours long, which is perfect for the days I do not want to start a really lengthy book. The stories kinda remind of the Dresden series, however, there are some differences. Johnathan Shade is a PI who often takes cases that involve the supernatural; however, he has no magical abilities and is immune to magic. This comes in handy when others are trying to harm him with magic, but on the flip side because he's immune to magic, it cannot be used to heal him if he's hurt.
Modern Sorcery is full of action, plenty of plot twists and of course Jonathan's signature wit and sarcasm. I love how Jonathan and the other main characters are developed throughout the series and each story has a tough villain that is not easily beaten and will challenge Jonathan and his team. Sometimes the losses will be great and not everyone will have a HEA.
The narration was great and Joe's performance only gets better as the series progresses.
I will definitely be on the lookout to see if the other books in the series comes out in audio and recommend this series to any Dresden or urban fantasy fan.
Eclectic characters and a great plot
Set in modern day Denver, this urban fantasy audiobook kept me entertained with its eclectic characters and interesting storyline. Jonathan Shade works as a PI who specializes in paranormal cases; he himself can perform no magic, but to his advantage, this also means he is immune to all magic. His side kicks are Esther, a ghost from the 1920's who is "attached" to an old typewriter and Kelly, an engineered Sekutar warrior, who is also Shade's Martial Arts teacher.

He's single, successful, wealthy, a womanizer, well-educated, and he will hurt you if he needs to. This book is the first in the series of Harry Starke novels.

    Harry is awesome!
I love this audio book! It is richly read by Tom Lennon. I thought Harry had some great one liners in the book. However, Tom made me laugh until my eyes cried! The premise of a young girl jumping off the bridge to her death, and Harry blaming himself, leads to a remarkable ending! From beginning to end, this book has it all. I still have a hard time believing that Blair Howard wasn't a p.I. in his former career.
I have had the pleasure of reading all of the books in the Harry Starke series so far. I swear they get better with each consecutive one. But, this is still one of my favorites. We are just getting to know Harry and his incredible humor. Each book after, we learn more and more about him, his past, his loves, and his incredible (jet owning) father. If you are looking for a great detective book, look no further.....but don't just stop there! Load up on all that you can. They are absolutely extraordinary!
    Great read!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would highly recommend this book!
What other book might you compare Harry Starke to and why?
This is as good or better than other detective books available on Audible.
Have you listened to any of Tom Lennons other performances before? How does this one compare?
Tom is a captivating voice actor who brings the characters to life.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes!
    Any additional comments?
I love this series! Well written and superbly narrated. I listened to the first two books on audible and I am currently reading numer 3 on Kindle. I am very much looking forward to future books in the series!
A new series to eagerly wait for
What did you love best about Harry Starke?
Harry is bigger than life, yet at the same time a very believable, like to get to know better, kind of guy next door.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Harry Starke?
    The death of the roommate
Which character as performed by Tom Lennon was your favorite?
Harry Starke himself. While he certainly doesn't sound like the cover picture I think it is the picture that is wrong.

This is the first Rankin I've read & I probably should've started with something earlier, because this was a lazy, predictable novel.
    Everything Perfectly In Place
I think that many were unsure about Ian Rankin's decision to continue the series after Rebus retired, The mixed reaction to Standing in Another Man's Grave was understandable, the new juxtaposition of the characters felt uncomfortable, unsure and like the characters themselves we found it hard to get our heads round it all. Then Saints of the Shadow Bible saw a definite return to form but with this book Rankin has absolutely nailed it!
The adjusted roles of the characters feel very natural now. As elder statesmen of law enforcement and the criminal underworld Rebus and Big Ger Cafferty rub along with and against each other with a crackling chemistry. Clarke and Fox spread their wings further and the plot is a tense, multi-layered one populated by an excellent cast of rogues, villains and powerful enemies.
James Macpherson (who else could it have been?) purrs and growls his way through the plot evoking imagery of Edinburgh and its surrounds and of course Rankin's richly formed characters.
In summary, I have simply enjoyed this one as much as any other Rebus that has gone before and have turned from "concerned fan" to "eager consumer" once more.
    Great read and highly recommended
Excellent as always. Beautifully narrated A steady paced story that will keep you hooked until the end.
Rebus - "helping the Police with their enquiries."
I have enjoyed all of the Rebus novels in audio format and James Macpherson does a great job bringing the characters and the action to life. I think Ian Rankin must have enjoyed yet another legitimate basis for extending the series. Following his second retirement due to age legislation, this time he is brought back as a Consultant Detective.

    Uniquely Charming Detective Series
The main character in this series has Ausbergers Syndrome - which gives him a unique perspective on solving problems as he struggles with difficult social interactions. Samuel Honnig has formed a business to answer questions and he does so with the perspective and intense focus that comes with his syndrome. When a question brought to him becomes a murder investigation he continues his sleuthing with deductions that would do credit to Sherlock Holmes. Samuel does not understand most of the social activity around him, so he relies on social training and advice from his mother to muddle through his interactions with other people. A charming and practical young woman in need of a job becomes his assistant and her presence provides the anchor he often needs to deal with a world that doesn't make sense. The mystery is secondary to the interesting perspective of the main character, but it is a mystery indeed. This is the second book in the series and I highly recommend both of them if you like character development and problem solving without a lot of blood and gore.
    Good but not great...
I really enjoyed the first book in this series and I enjoyed the characters in this book but almost immediately you can figure out who the murderer is so that diminished the story. I am still excited for the next installment.
    Fun and Fabulous Read!
I love these books! They are fun and entertaining and insightful in many ways I love the simplicity and portrayal of the characters. I am waiting eagerly for the next one!
    Good characters, weak mystery
I found the story line sadly predictable with the mystery presenting little to no surprises.
However, I still enjoyed the performance and the characters. I am growing to quite like the proprietor and associate of Questions Answered. Would recommend as a light read if you have no expectations of an intense mystery.
There is more to Samuel than just Asperger's
    Any additional comments?
This is the second book in this series that I have listened to and I have enjoyed them both. However, I wish the author would give us a little deeper look into our hero's personality and character. I think that often, to neuro-typicals, a person's autistic characteristics define them to the exclusion of much else. In fact, people on the spectrum are much more than just their autism. We don't get to know much else about Samuel, aside from his enjoyment of the Beatles and baseball, which is unfortunate.
