We don’t realize we are emotionally eating until we are emotionally eating. Emotional Eating Expert & Coach, Gabrielle J. Chery, didn’t realize until she had gained 30 pounds. She was insecure, hiding, experiencing depression. She started going to the gym but didn’t change her eating habits. She realized she was using food as a reward – this is misaligning the way God made food. However, when she did loose the 30 pounds in her body, her mind was still struggling. We have this expectation that weight loss equals confidence. This is a lie. Sometimes we don’t want to deal with us and we can make weight loss an idol. Or do you have an emotional need like being heard, seen or validated? We need to learn how to be self-aware and use self-soothe skills instead of emotionally eating.
