Everyday, you do your best to cope and get through the day, despite the agonising heartache you feel, the sadness that just seems to have become your new unwelcome friend and the distrust you have of your body.

You've been trying to get pregnant for soooooo long and everything just seems to remind you that this isn't happening for you.

And just when you think you might be having a good day - BAM - some woman with a HUGE belly walks past you.  You sigh and try and distract yourself on Facebook only to be greeted with your friends pregnancy announcement and maybe a few billion ads about fertility enhancing products!

And you literally sit there and think WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME!!  While you do your best to hold back the giant sobs that are rising up your throat.

Well today, I wanted to explain to you exactly why this is happening and why you do see pregnant bellies and everything else pregnancy everywhere.

And also what you can do about it, so that you can find just a bit more emotional resilience on the journey to conceiving your baby.

It's something that we don't talk about very often and something that is also extremely common on a fertility journey and that is miscarriages. 

But what is also really common with miscarriages unfortunately is the lasting devastation and trauma, which isn't talked about and often isn't dealt with.

As women, we are largely left alone in our devastation and anxiety of the experience and around it happening again if we get pregnant because we don't talk about miscarriage in the first place, so we feel very alone.

Today I really wanted to honour those of you who have gone through a miscarriage to talk about my four miscarriages , what I did to support myself through those miscarriages, and what I did to really get to the other side and let go of those experiences.

Plus what I would do differently and some tips to really help you to get through your experience.

I hope this episode really gives you some real and practical ways to help you to start to support yourself through a miscarriage and start  to heal.

And also makes you realise that you are not alone.

It's natural to be really impatient about wanting to conceive your baby - especially when you have been trying for so long.  And I'm not here to tell you that you need to be patient.

But today I wanted to showcase something that I experience with my clients time and time again. And that is about how impatience keeps you stuck in and on the infertility rollercoaster.  
And I mean this in a couple of ways.

• Emotionally stuck
• Stuck from actually calming down our nervous systems to support our health
• Stuck in what we think is possible for our lives
• Stuck from making quality decisions on our fertility journey and reacting out of fear and panic
• Stuck sometimes from getting pregnant too.

So on today's podcast I detail for you how this works.  And that the opposite of impatience in this instance is actually not learning patience.

I illustrate why and how it keeps us stuck and how you can learn to find that place where you feel more in control again where patience is a natural byproduct of a beautiful shift.

Did you always imagine how you were going to announce your pregnancy to your friends?  You started TTC in earnest and collected all these cute ideas and you daydreamed about how you would tell your partner, your friends and your family.  You saw in your mind how happy people would be for you. 

But then infertility struck and all those dreams got ripped away!

And then, friend after friend, after family member started announcing their pregnancies and they started to feel like a knife through the heart.  You became afraid to even open your social media stream!

Sound familiar?

Unfortunately living in isolation from the rest of the world is not an option on the fertility journey.

So today, I am joined by Author and Fertility Coach (and friend) Jennifer Robertson, as we talk about the dreaded pregnancy announcement and how you can start to deal with them. 

(Seriously, check out Jen's amazing book "The Injustice of Infertility" a very raw and honest book that shows a warts and all account of infertility).

With  a 7 year long journey herself that included surrogacy and then a natural pregnancy, Jennifer admits to not handling pregnancy announcements so well and why that it is just a normal reaction.

Have you ever met a person who was completely stressed out who could 'just relax' on cue after being told too?

It's ludicrous, yet so many people still think nothing of saying - just relax and it will happen - to women who are experiencing one of the most difficult experiences they could go through - infertility.

And in fact, it would be like telling a cancer patient to 'just relax'.  It is insensitive and downright inappropriate.

Yet, we've all heard the stories about someone who adopted and then got pregnant, the couple who got pregnant right as they were about to start IVF and weren't trying anymore, the couple who went on a holiday...

That sometimes we start to think there is merit in it.

Today, I talk about the causal link between infertility and stress, get into the science and help you to understand how you can help yourself on your journey.

And, I also go into why this annoying saying came about, why it doesn't work and what is a REAL strategy for success.

Navigating Infertility is one of the hardest things a couple can do.  And the more the years pass, the harder it can be.

It negatively impacts our mindset, can test our relationships and quite often starts to slowly erode our lives, friendships, enjoyment of life and our self-worth and self-esteem.

We start to feel like there is something wrong with us, that maybe we are not worthy and we start to live constantly in a state of functioning misery.

Are you worried about your age and having a baby? Is it making you feel like you are on borrowed time?

When I started my journey into trying to conceive I was 27 years old, lost a bit of weight in the name of health and lost my period and could find no-one who could explain to me what had happened to me.

I went from doctor to doctor but in the end had to explain it and fix it for myself - little did I realise what happened to me has a name!

So today on the podcast, I'm so excited to have Sarah Liz King, a Health At Every Size (HAES) Exercise Physiologist and Health coach.

Sarah, helps women un-learn toxic diet culture and provide a science-backed, holistic approach to mental and physical wellness that will last a lifetime.

And focusses women on food freedom, positive body image and having a good relationship with food and exercise.

So many women I speak as a fertility coach have body image issues and a bad relationship with food and exercise, whether that is because they are told they need to lose weight or because they have always strived to be the 'perfect' weight.

And when we are going through something like Infertility - it can be so hard to love and trust our bodies when we already feel like they are broken.

Sarah and I had such a good discussion and many issues including eating disorders, body image, hypothalamic amenorrhea and exercise.
