Sometimes we talk a better game than we walk. But how can we ensure that we live up to our promises?
In this week’s show, Julie chats to Kathryne Vere about the art of walking your talk, and discovers that it really starts by knowing ourselves, and by identifying the key principles by which we live our lives.
Today’s world seems to be one of mistrust and disappointment in those we look to believe in, but how can we restore trust? Julie and Kathryne discuss the ways in which anyone can regain trust through honesty and the nurturing of values.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Julie has walked her talk by clearly identifying the set of principles she lives by, and adhering to them whenever possible. Julie’s top values are:
- Honesty
- Trust
- Learning
- Creating wealth
- We may say one thing and do another, because the goal we are driven towards may be an unconscious driver. If we promise something and don’t go through with it, then we need to look at the root causes.
- Alternatively, we also need to talk our walk. It’s a much more reflective practice on the present moment, involving making that promise of future intent.
- We cannot go on ignoring the effect we are having on the planet. We cannot continue to blame others for the problems we are creating. We need to do our part and accept responsibility.
- The journey to our inner selves is long and slow, and sometimes painful. But it is completely necessary if we truly wish to harness our inner power in order to heal ourselves
- It’s no good to separate the parts of us that we don’t like, or wish to improve. We need to be authentic. We need to realise that even our flaws are powerful tools.
- A huge change is required from the business world, no matter how large or small the scale, to encourage everyone to operate more from the heart. To come back into the body.
- Instead of resisting the emotion or feeling you want to avoid, endeavour instead to take a breath, and to truly feel the weight of the feeling. Breathe in the stress, and let your body transform it into positive energy.
