For many of us doing “quiet time,” “Bible time,” or “Devotions” with our kids feels like an all-or-nothing experience. We have in our mind what we think it should look like, and if we fall short of that we just give up.

Many are living out the dream of adult life we had as children. Then some days stressor after stressor keeps piling on, until we wondered why this is something we ever even asked for. It can feel especially guilt-inducing when it involves being a parent to our children. 

The feelings come up with the wish that we could quit motherhood. How do we give ourselves a time-out?

Fear of missing out is real and if we are honest it doesn't just affect teenagers. Many of us struggle with comparison and feel that everyone must be happier than we are. I related a lot to swirling thoughts keeping you awake. Throughout history, we've been tempted to think of children as less than adults, but when Jesus came he turned that ideology on its head with his teaching.
