Core Points:

• Consider personal comfort items for backcountry camping. Prioritize items you’d miss, balancing comfort against added weight.
• Evaluate the necessity of luxury items such as alcohol, lightweight chairs, and pillows for improved backcountry experiences.
• Assess the value of enhanced sleeping arrangements with luxury sleeping pads to mitigate discomfort.
• Determine how important coffee or tea is to your backcountry experience and pack the gear accordingly. Instant options save weight.
• Decide on electronics (e-readers, solar chargers, camera gear) based on trip length and content creation needs.
• Pack specialty food items for enjoyment, particularly for the first night, while being mindful of the increased weight.

Booze? Cast iron fry pans? Camera gear? Bigger tent?
What's your guilty backcountry pleasure?

From having it rain every time they landed to make camp during the first week, to catching and eating yummy Grayling, to dumping in a very cold, very fast moving river, to amazing views, to bonding as a group, Deren and pals had an amazing time paddling the Hart River in the Peel watershed.

Pamela and Tim really enjoyed a quick, 3 day trip into the Massassauga backcountry recently.
Good weather, great site, no loud neighbours (except for squirrels).
And a great visit with one of our favourite pals.
