This is Superlative: A Podcast about watches, the people behind them, and the worlds that inspire them. This week our host and aBlogtoWatch Founder Ariel Adams is joined by the Head of Watches at Louis Vuitton, Jean Arnault. Ariel starts the show asking about the exclusivity and somewhat secrecy behind the brands luxury watches. Jean elaborates on how they are only distributed through their own LV stores, and how he believes they operate in a more artisan way with their smaller team. Our guest is asked about what his goals are for the brand going forward, and how awareness is at the forefront of that. They talk about the luxury smart watch market currently, and while Jean still defends mechanical watches he still believes that a true sports watch today is now a connected watch. Jean goes into what makes their connected watches different, and why creating it all in house is important for them. To round out the end of the episode Jean explains why creating a fun piece with incredible software that works is extremely valuable to the mission, and even though Ariel and Jean both seem to get annoyed with the constant notifications aspect of smart watches, they always seem to turn them off anyways and get to really enjoy the watch itself.
