Don’t Worry? Be grateful.
Having trouble sleeping?
I have lots of trouble sleeping. Which sucks because when I wake up I feel like I sleep 0 hours haha. But one thing has helped me with those late nights. Well a few things have helped.
So in my hot showers i prep my “grateful list” this is a journal type of therapy. So basically when you feel restless at night because your mind is moving around so much with worry, what you do is telling yourself to STOP and as soon as you do, start asking yourself what you're grateful for today. If you feel you can’t come up with anything I’m going to call BS.. because if your hearing this you're Alive. Right?
So how the list gets bigger is you start with what you're grateful for today and then work backwards, what where you grateful for this week? This month? Etc
What this does is helps your worrying mind settle, and it helps your worry realize there is nothing to worry about. The reasons I do this in the shower is because I feel that’s where I can really decompress and focus on me. But I also do this at night if I can’t sleep. If you think writing these down will help I strongly recommend.
This helps not only help your anxiety and your worry calm down but it also helps bring you back to reality, and realize the things you are grateful for.
