Talk From Superheroes

GET OFF MY PLANE! This week we're building up to Captain America: Brave New World and by talking about some other Harrison Ford as President goodness with Air Force One. We talk about the ideal film American President, not looking cool when zip-lining, the intricacies of sending a fax, and a plane taking a bullet for another plane.

This week on the pod we're talking about the new Star Trek movie (?) Star Trek Section 31. We talk about what this was intended to be, what it ended up being, new Trek's love of accents, what's cool about Section 31, and how badly this wants to be Guardians of the Galaxy and absolutely is not.

Continuing our creature feature vibes this week we're talking about Bram Stoker's Dracula, a movie that is truly mind blowing. We talk about creepy shadow work, Dracula's ability to turn into a bunch of different stuff, Van Helsing kicking ass, and the greatness of the 3 avenging boyfriends.

This week we're talking about the start(?) of the new DCU with the entire first season of Creature Commandos and there's a lot to talk about here. This is a jam packed episode. We realize that we have never had a complaint about Alan Tudyk, discuss the problematic elements of the writing (CW: sexual assault), James Gunn loving himself, and the broader messy implications of the new DCU.

It's going to be a couple weeks of creature features so let's start with what is widely regarded as the first ever piece of Science Fiction, it's the 1994 version of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. We talk about how big a boy the creature should be, the many themes of the story, if it's moral to explore in a boat, and sudden violence.
