Talk From Superheroes

Toxie is back. This week we're talking about the new 2025 (or 2023 depending on who you're talking to) reboot of The Toxic Avenger. A movie that is a little embarrassed to be what is, has great performances that are all the same performance, obligatory nudity, and we debate what the invisible clothes joke is referencing.

Host Andrew Ivimey will be performing in Halifax Nov 7, 2025 with special guests Luba Magnus (CBC, Grindstone Comedy Fest) and Jordan Foisy (This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Vice), and Clare Belford (New York Comedy Festival, Halifax Comedy Festival). This week we're going back to the 80's cult classic The Toxic Avenger. We're asking the important questions like does this deserve more or less respect in cult classic status, how many canes does a blind person need, what was up with all the boobs in 80's movies, and is the tank shot the funniest thing we've ever seen?

This week we're calling an audible and talking about Weapons. We're Naruto running to talk about character chapters, the worst deaths, believable police incompetence, and the meaning of WEAPONS.

It's our 500th EPISODE! We can hardly believe we've been doing it this long and to celebrate we've decided to revisit our first episode of the podcast. It's 2016's Deadpool and we talk about if it holds up and why, reasons it was ahead of its time, and if the zamboni is the funniest vehicle ever made. We also chat about how the podcast has changed and our most memorable moments of the past 500 episodes. Thanks for listening to us goof around 500 times and here's to 500 more! Cheers! - Andrew & Diana

This week it's the new 4, with a retro style, with The Fantastic Four First Steps. We talk about what looks real & fake, the dark undertones of Reed, how big babies are, Johnny throughout the years, and the merits of Mole Man.

This week we're talking about the previous era of Chris Evans as a Marvel superhero. We're going back to 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer. We talk about the classic combination of Doug Jones and a voice actor, a Galactus you can't see, insisting Sue be blonde, and is this movie surprisingly good?

This week we're going back to visit the second of the original Superman movies. We're talking about the violence of Zod and crew, the campy nature of the world, and the fact that Superman does... you know ... wink.

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a new Superman. This week we're talking about the new take on Superman, we discuss the James Gunn of it all, hope and optimism, defending Jor-El, and the impossibility of the perfect Jimmy Olsen.

This week we're going back to YET ANOTHER ISLA with Jurassic World Rebirth. We talk about about a family that wasn't in the marketing, visual competency, everyone's favourite character Dr. Sexy, and how dinosaurs aren't boring you guys.

This week we're talking about a movie that despite groundbreaking visual effects may be most famous for a weird scream-to-yawn match cut, it's The Lost World: Jurassic Park. We talk about how everyone is Jeff Goldblum, a villain who casually walks away, why everybody loves Nick, and why it's weird to gymnastics kick a velociraptor.
