  • Thoughts on Bills Drafting Elam Plus Sabres Stink Up Boston

It’s Casual Friday on Talking Buffalo Podcast, which means Patrick Moran is joined by Noted Hockey author and Maintenance Day podcaster Joe Yerdon to discuss round of the NFL draft, including the Buffalo Bills trading up two spots to select cornerback Kaiir Elam out of Florida as well as other news from a huge NFL night and the Buffalo Sabres getting shut out in Boston in their second-last game of the season.

Buffalo traded up with Baltimore to take Elam, the fourth cornerback on the board. The guys discuss what they think of the pick and in the end, as it usually goes this time of year, most people overthinking positions when it’s been clear all along cornerback was the biggest need.

The guys also discuss big nights from Detroit and both New York teams before turning their attention to the Sabres, who slept walk in Boston Thursday night. All that and much more.

  • Final Bills Mock Draft With Scenarios

On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, the NFL draft is finally here and host Patrick Moran goes through one final Buffalo Bills seven-round mock draft before the real thing starts tonight.

After concluding a five-week series of Bills mock with Aaron Quinn from Cover, Patrick offers his own thoughts, including why a wide receiver is not likely for the first round, positions that offer great second day depth, a few dark horse possibilities and six most likely first-round selections before commencing on this final solo mock.

A pre-draft goal is set of drafting running back, offensive guard and cornerback with the first three picks, not in any specific predetermined order. Does that goal get met?

  • Bills Talk Plus Reviving The Shane Wright/Sabres Dream

It’s Casual Friday on Talking Buffalo Podcast, which means Patrick Moran is joined by Noted Hockey author and Maintenance Day podcaster Joe Yerdon to discuss the NFL Draft, Von Miller's candid words, the Buffalo Sabres still having a realistic chance at landing Shane Wright and their weekly "Starting Five" draft of famous people featuring the first name Chris.

The NFL draft is a week away and the guys admit they're no closer to having an idea of what Bills general manager Brandon Beane will do with the first pick than they were two months ago. The guys talk about a handful of positions that make the most sense to them even if they're not immediate needs before spending a few minutes discussing Von Miller openly saying he's still a little surprised he chose Buffalo over Los Angeles.

Also, the Sabres are fun to watch again and have improved in the standings but that said, still currently sit 25th in the league with the 8th-best chance to win the NHL draft lottery. Pat and Joe imagine them winning it and landing Shane Wright while pointing out with or without him the expectations for next season are going to grow far more than they were this season. That, plus their draft of the famous guys named Chris and much more!

  • Buffalo Bills Mock Draft, Version 5.0

On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Aaron Quinn from Cover 1 for the last in a five-week series consisting of full seven-round Buffalo Bills mock drafts. As always, The Draft Network simulates picks for the other 31 teams in the league, leaving Aaron and Patrick to select for the Bills in real-time without knowing who’ll be available beforehand.

For this draft, their final one together they decide to try and make it feel as realistic as possible instead of something fans would automatically endear more. Therefore there's guys over the first few rounds that were available during the actual real time draft the guys felt was in reality far fetched and therefore didn't take. In part as a result they end up taking an offensive lineman for the first time with the first pick and a guy in the second they'd previous nabbed in the third in all four previous mocks.

Before the final mock the guys do together, they spend time on if any of their previous early picks feel realistic at this point, Patrick thinking running back is more likely to get addressed early than wide receiver, a guys they've and maybe a lot of fans have been sleeping on, Patrick's binge-watching watch of MCU flicks, crappy Buffalo weather and more.

  • Owen Power, Sports Talk & Best 80's Sitcoms

It’s Casual Friday on Talking Buffalo Podcast, which means Patrick Moran is joined by Noted Hockey author and Maintenance Day podcaster Joe Yerdon to discuss a Owen Power making his Buffalo Sabres home debut, their potential goaltending dilemma going forward a “Starting Five” draft consisting of Best 80s Sitcoms and more.

The Buffalo Sabres weren't successful in Owen Power's home debut on Thursday night, losing to St. Louis, 5-2. The loss doesn't damper what's been an exciting time for Buffalo of late and the guys talk about it, including Power's first NHL game in Toronto earlier this week, how satisfying it is essentially own the Maple Leafs despite being a bad team overall. Goaltending is also discussed as Joe has thoughts on if Craig Anderson should be back next season and if UPL will finally be ready to take the reigns as Buffalo's number one goalie.

They also spend some time talking about Baker Mayfield being a turd, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), draft their favorite 80's sitcoms and much more.

  • Buffalo Bills Mock Draft, Version 4.0

On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Aaron Quinn from Cover 1 for the four in a five-week series consisting of full seven-round Buffalo Bills mock drafts. As always, The Draft Network simulates picks for the other 31 teams in the league, leaving Aaron and Patrick to select for the Bills in real-time without knowing who’ll be available beforehand.

The guys agree to not draft wide receiver Chris Olave for a third straight week if he’s available at pick No. 25 and are left with a dilemma when he’s there. They end up getting guys in the first two rounds they don’t think will be there in reality before coming to the same third-round pick they’ve had in all four rounds. Patrick’s upset about missing out on guards in round four and they fill the remainder of the draft with position battle candidates. To be perfectly honest it’s not a mock either guy feels great about, mainly because it feels unlikely to play out as this did.

Before the mock draft the guys spend a few minutes talking Stefon Diggs’ new extension and Jordan Poyer wanting a contract as well as Patrick embarking on MCU movie binge and wondering why people bother going to concerts to spend half of it recording video on their phones.

  • What Happens With Jordan Poyer?

On this solo episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran discusses the potential dilemma Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane has when it comes to All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer, who reportedly is seeking a brand new contract.

Patrick goes over several possibilities, including some submitted via Twitter by listeners ranging from re-signing him long term to letting him walk and even trading up for highly touted safety draft prospect Kyle Hamilton. Patrick has thoughts on all potential outcomes as well as thoughts on the Bills re-signing Bobby Hart, the Buffalo Sabres debut of Owen Power and the popular TV drama This is Us.

  • Casual Friday With Joe Yerdon Returns!

It’s Casual Friday on Talking Buffalo Podcast for the first time in over a month, which means Patrick Moran is joined by Noted Hockey author and Maintenance Day podcaster Joe Yerdon to discuss a variety of topics, including some potential contract dissention looming between Jordan Poyer and the Buffalo Bills, a few sneaky Bills early draft candidates, the Sabres continuing to play excellent hockey and a “Starting Five” draft consisting of Best 90s Sitcoms.

On the same day Stefon Diggs signed a monster four-year extension with the Bills, Poyer signed agent Drew Rosenhaus to represent him. Based on that and some tweets, including a deleted one from Poyer's wife there could be some trouble on the horizon between Poyer and the organization, as Poyer has one year left on his current deal. The guys discuss that and several items related to the NFL draft coming later this month.

Also, the Sabres continue to play hockey that's drawing fans back but that didn't stop fans from relentlessly booing Terry Pegula recently. Joe has thoughts on that and Devon Levi not joining the Sabres at this time. That, plus their draft of Best 90s Sitcoms and much more!

  • Buffalo Bills Mock Draft, Version 3.0

On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Aaron Quinn from Cover 1 for the third in a five-week series on Wednesdays consisting of full seven-round Buffalo Bills mock drafts. As always, The Draft Network simulates picks for the other 31 teams in the league, leaving Aaron and Patrick to select for the Bills in real-time without knowing who’ll be available beforehand and unlike the first two Bills mocks, this one allows for trades to be on the table.

The guys have went with defensive tackle and wide receiver with the first Bills pick in the first two mock drafts, respectively. Having the ability to swing deals this time around, the guys do move up once during the draft and are stuck with some difficult decisions, especially in round two when Patrick and Aaron disagree over who the pick should be. Ultimately it's a decision that's likely to rattle the cages of Bills fans and speculation should it happen during the actual NFL draft.

Before the mock the guys spend some time discussing Doug Whaley, Stefon Diggs, Josh Allen and potential early draft positions people are expecting (cornerbacks) as well as maybe one most aren't, linebacker.

  • Buffalo Bills Mock Draft, Version 2.0

On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Aaron Quinn from Cover 1 for the second in a five-week series on Wednesdays consisting of full seven-round Buffalo Bills mock drafts. As always, The Draft Network simulates picks for the other 31 teams in the league, leaving Aaron and Patrick to select for the Bills in real-time without knowing who'll be available beforehand.

Last week the board played out oddly, leaving big need vs talent questions for the guys in the first two rounds. Ultimately the guys chose value with defensive tackle Jordan Davis and and running back Kenneth Walker III in rounds one and two respectively. Will the board play out much differently this time?

Before getting to their second mock the guys spend a little time examining if Ryan Bates' return to Buffalo eliminates the need to draft a guard early, why we shouldn't forget about Brandon Beane's attempt to sign running back J.D. McKissic and cornerback remaining the team's lone glaring hole on the roster going into the draft.
