  • Floyd Mayweather Jr., vs. Adrien Broner vs. Ashley Theophane Review
Today, on Thaboxingvoice radio show, the panel discusses this past weekend’s fights which featured a junior welterweight showdown between the always controversial Ohio native Adrien Broner and Mayweather Promotion’s Ashley Theophane.
Although Broner lost his junior welterweight title on the scales, he still was able to stop Theophane in the 9th round of a scheduled 12 rounder. After the fight, Broner called out Floyd Mayweather Jr. during the post-fight interview, which was fairly anticipated based on the lead up to the fight. The promotion was heavily centered around Mayweather and Broner.
Thaboxingvoice will focus on what’s next from Broner and how likely it is that we will see him in the ring with Mayweather.
Of course, “The Voice of the People” will also discuss all of the international action from this past weekend, including the two upsets in the heavyweight division as Eric Molina, knocked out Tomasz Adamek in the 10th round of a scheduled 12 rounder and Johann Duhaupas stopped Robert Helenius in the 6th round of their scheduled 12.
Beeb will undoubtedly point out the attention that was received from these fights and how it correlates with the significant difference in popularity boxing receives overseas compared to the U.S. Nes, on the other hand, will point out the destruction of Helenius is further reason to fear and respect the resume of America’s only heavyweight champion at the moment, Deontay Wilder.
All this plus news and notes from around the world of boxing. And, of course, we will be taking live calls on air from you the voice of the people. From Alumni to first-time callers, we encourage everyone to call 646-478-3068 to voice your opinion Stay updated by following us on Twitter @Thaboxingvoice

  • Adrien Broner Calls Out Floyd Mayweather...Review
Tonight, in a special addition “on demand” show, Thaboxingvoice panel of hosts focus on the ongoing Mayweather-Broner saga. Following Adrien Broner’s 9th round TKO over Ashley Theophane on SPIKE TV last night, the Ohio native and former junior welterweight champion called out Floyd Mayweather Jr.

It was a bit expected after weeks of buildup, but it wasn’t any less surprising to hear Broner actually call for a fight with the man he once referred to as “big bro.”

You will hear the hosts discuss Broner’s actual call out of Mayweather in the post-fight interview and whether or not it was legitimate enough to be taken serious. Also, we will discuss Mayweather’s quick and expected response given in the form of yet another FightHype interview released earlier today.
Today’s special show is brought to you by Joey Cuevas @JCuevas2333
And, of course, we will be taking live calls on air from you the voice of the people. From Alumni to first-time callers, we encourage everyone to call 646-478-3068 to voice your opinion. • Floyd Mayweather Jr., vs. Adrien Broner vs. Ashley Theophane Preview
On today’s show, Thaboxingvoice panel of hosts discuss this weekend’s fights which features the always controversial Adrien Broner defending his WBA junior welterweight title against Ashley Theophane on Spike TV this Friday. Broner will defend his title amidst heavy legal issues in his hometown and with word coming in that Broner will turn himself into authorities following the fight, the question is will it affect his performance? Broner has already come in overweight at today’s weigh in, so the evidence is stacking up.

Nestor Gibbs, TBV’s resident instigator, will undoubtedly focus on Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s recent interview with Fighthype.com and all the inflammatory comments made as the fight draws near and “Money May” makes his allegiances to his fighter, Theophane.

Will Joe Habeeb have any last minute advice for betters? Stay tuned.

  • Andre Ward Dismantles Barrera...Is He Ready for Kovalev?
Andre Ward outpointed Sullivan Barrera over the course of twelve rounds and flashed a little power along the way at the Oracle Arena on Saturday night.

Ward started slowly but picked up the pace near the end of the second round when he landed a solid left hand that got Barrera’s attention. He carried that momentum with him into the third round when he floored Barrera with a huge left hook.

Barrera beat the count and quickly recuperated, but a pattern soon developed that saw Ward comfortably controlling the distance while frustrating Barrera with head movement and efficient defense. Barrera threw an impressive volume of punches but didn’t land much of anything except an occasional shot here and there.

  • Is Boxing Growing In Uk But Shrinking US?
With the recent arrival of forty-four-year-old former heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs to the UK last week and seeing all the attention that he got from the UK boxing fans and press, is this an indication of just how big boxing has become in the United Kingdom.

Briggs, who hasn’t fought a big name opponent in years and is far from being in his prime, had a sit-down meeting with the largest promoter in the UK, Eddie Hearn, to discuss possible future fights. Among the names mentioned were Anthony Joshua, David Haye, and Tyson Fury.

Briggs had expressed having trouble getting big fights in the United States and said to Hearn that he wants to make Great Britain his new home. Hearn expressed doing long term business with the American-born heavyweight.

Golden Boy Promotions is working to finalize a fight between welterweight Frankie Gomez and Mauricio Herrera. If scheduled, it will be on the Canelo Alvarez-Amir Khan HBO PPV undercard on May 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Golden Boy vice president Eric Gomez told ESPN.com.

  • Showtime Silences Critics with All-Star Summer Boxing Schedule Preview
On today’s show, the panel discusses this past Friday that sent shockwaves through the boxing world. It seemed to be one major fight announcement after the next, most of which were associated to the premium network ShowTime. The fight announcements came quick, and some of the announcements were harder to digest than others, so much so that they seemed to come all at once.
From the finalization of Deontay Wilder and Alexander Povetkin taking place in Russia to the bombshell of Leo Santa Cruz and Carl Frampton targeted for the summer. Some announcements raised more curiosity than excitement. Fight cards like the one on April 30th that will see Badou Jack and James DeGale fighting in separate bouts as opposed to against one another will surely be a hot button issue today amongst fans wondering why they need a fight in between, especially considering the level of opposition—Jack fights Lucian Bute for his WBC super middleweight world title while DeGale puts his IBF super middleweight title against Rogelio “Porky” Medina.
Other notable announcements were Showtime’s U.S. broadcasting rights of Charles Martin defending his IBF heavyweight title against the fast rising Anthony Joshua taking place on foreign soil, Abner Mares fighting Jesus Cuellar in the co-feature of the Thurman-Porter card, which received a new date as part of the Friday announcements.
The panel will discuss the remainder of the announcements. What will be interesting is Nestor Gibbs reaction to the amount of PBC fights announced not happening on free TV. And, how will Mario react after being so critical of Leo Santa Cruz’s fight choices, will he eat his words and will he refer to this fight as a 50/50 or an easy night for Frampton? How will Beeb react towards the announcement of Wilder-Povetkin and does he give the winner more than a fighting chance versus Tyson Fury?

  • Miguel Cotto-James Kirkland On PPV ???...Why???
Nes The Beeb and Mario sit down to discuss the trending hot topic of Miguel Cotto-James Kirkland On PPV ???...Why??? as well as Wilder-Povetkin, Lomachenko-Walters rumors cleared by The Beeb during his conversation.
On today’s show, the panel discusses the recent rumors surrounding Miguel Cotto and James Kirkland and the likelihood of it landing on HBO PPV. Cotto has not fought since the super fight between him and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez last September in which he dropped the lineal WBC middleweight championship. Coincidently enough, Kirkland’s last outing was a KO loss to Canelo as well.

Other highlighted areas of conversation will include the recent reports speculating Deontay Wilder’s next defense of his WBC heavyweight championship against Alexander Povetkin in Russia. As a true Bomb Squad believer, Nes will likely have plenty to add on the situation surrounding the champion being forced to travel.

Of course, the panel will discuss the upcoming fights for the weekend highlighted by the rematch between Terry Flanagan and Derry Mathews for Flanagan's WBO lightweight title. Also in action in this shallow weekend of fights, David Lemieux returns to fight James De La Rosa and Zab Judah continues his career.
And, of course, we will be taking live calls on air from you the voice of the people. From Alumni to first-time callers, we encourage everyone to call 646-478-3068 to voice your opinion. • Luis Ortiz Punishes Thompson and Jessie Vargas Stuns Ali Review
On today’s show, the panel discusses all the action of this busy weekend of fights, highlighted by the crowning of a new WBO welterweight champion in Jesse Vargas who stopped Sadam Ali in the 9th round to issuing the Brooklyn native his first career loss as a pro.

On that same card, Luis Ortiz easily put away faded fighter Tony Thompson after delivering 3 knockdowns in the fight. The heavyweight showdown headlined the HBO “Boxing After Dark” card, but the panel will discuss what Ortiz truly gained from the outing.

We will also breakdown all the action on the ShowTime side of things as they delivered a card featuring Julian “J Rock” Williams and Antoine Douglas in separate bouts. What was the aftermath of this card and what can we expect of Douglas after being upset by Avtandil Khurtsidze?
And, of course, we will be taking live calls on air from you the voice of the people. From Alumni to first-time callers, we encourage everyone to call 646-478-3068 to voice your opinion.
