Adapting to a culture is more than participating in its customs and understanding what individuals value, how they behave and what matters to them. It’s about questioning your own identity, re-discovering, and expanding it. That is both liberating and disorienting.

I left my home country when I was 23.

In today’s world, where we're constantly plugged into everyone’s lives and bombarded by the illusion that everyone is happy all the time, we’ve started to believe that any discomfort means we’re in the wrong place or not living life the "right" way.

We’ve bought into the cheap advice of “If you feel this way, it’s not for you,” and by chasing a perfect life free of any “negative” emotions, we only end up more frustrated, anxious, and unfulfilled.
