Hebrews 9:23-28

Main idea: The cross was the center of God’s salvific plan. 


The servant suffered on behalf of mankind (9:23). The servant became our representative
(9:24). 


The servant suffered once for all (9:25-26).


The servant is our hope for and assurance of salvation (9:27-28).

Salvation by Faith
Romans 9:1-29

Main idea: Salvation is offered by God’s mercy and grace alone.

Those who are in Christ are the true spiritual descendants of Abraham (9:1-11).

Works do not make one a child of God (9:12-24).

God has offered salvation to all people (9:25-29).

A New Destiny
Romans 8:18-39

Main idea: We secure our eternal destination in Christ. 

We are not meant for this world (8:18-25). 

We endure by the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit (8:26-31).

We are infinitely exalted by the grace of God, the Father (8:31-33). 

We are eternally triumphant in the victorious work of Christ, the Son (8:34-39).

A New Spirit

Main idea: We can not obey God through our own power.

The Spirit overrules the mind and body (7:25b-8:4).

Those who live in sin cannot please God (8:5-11).

Justification (right standing with God) comes with benefits (5:1-5).

We have been reconciled through the life of Christ (5:6-11).

Sin entered the world through Adam, the first man (5:12-14).

Sin was conquered through Jesus, the perfect man (5:15-21).
