The AMPire Diaries

The AMPire Diaries Episode 77: The Originals - “Rescue Me”

AMPies—HE’S HERE. Sort of. Oh yeah, we saw the back of Markos the Traveler, so obviously, there’s a LOT to unpack. Lots of play-by-play action for this reveal. Yes, this week, your favorite Vampire Diaries rewatch-slash-first-time watch (and mostly spoiler-free) combination podcast is discussing The Vampire Diaries’ “Rescue Me” (Season 5, Episode 17). Which means we’re talking:

- Be silent. Be still. Be Markos. Be still.

- Our undying love for the Very Dead Tom Avery.

- Varying Delena opinions.

- Some valid concerns about Jeremy Gilbert’s well-being…

- …but ZERO sympathy for his weird thing with Liv.

- Did Damon do the dream?

- Mystic Falls’ own Rowdy Ruff Boys.

- What if Elijah bought Bonnie a car?

- What exactly can a “hunter” do?

- Enzo dating an old lady. Hot.

The AMPire Diaries Episode 76: The Vampire Diaries - “While You Were Sleeping” (feat. Michael Chasin)

AMPies, we (and the boy, Michael Chasin—@MichaelChasin) are back on out Vampy Ds grind. That’s right, your favorite Vampire Diaries rewatch-slash-first-time watch (and mostly spoiler-free) combination podcast is discussing The Vampire Diaries’ (huzzah!) “While You Were Sleeping” (Season 5, Episode 16). Which means we’re talking:

- "The Worst Person to Watch TV With"... Jill Defiel!

- Luke, who is here… and is two things.

- How the hell are Liv and Bonnie NOT gay?

- Elena showing solidarity for our final official SICKO CAST.

- Enzo's weird fucking blood. What's the deal?

- The Felicity (of The WB’s Felicity fame) of The Vampire Diaries.

- “Grabbing Distance.”

- Reaching the point in Season 5 where none of us really know what's going on with all things Traveler.

- The canonical Old Train Yard.

Also: We recorded this episode before watching The Originals’ “Moon Over Bourbon Street,” so we were missing our gay Josh something fierce. Luke didn’t fill the void.

The AMPire Diaries Episode 74: The Originals - “Farewell to Storyville”

Alright, it’s time for this week’s contractually-obligated podcast episode. (Look, Claire Holt’s not the only one we can make contract jokes about.) It’s also time for: The Trial of Rebekah Mikaelson. That’s right, this week, your favorite Vampire Diaries rewatch-slash-first-time watch (and mostly spoiler-free) combination podcast is discussing The Originals’ “Farewell to Storyville” (Season 1, Episode 16). Which means we’re accidentally doing two intros and talking:

- LaToya crying at a Klaus horse. (Obviously, Jill wrote this.)

- Jill’s great ass and great hypocrisy. (Jill wrote this… and then LaToya finished it.)

- Fuck Esther… but… what if she possessed a flop?

- The power of MiFi.

- The one they call honorable.

- Father Kieran: Part of the COVID crew?

- Does Cami make a good point this episode?

- Klaus and Rebekah’s sexual tension.

- Our denial over The Originals (Seasons 1-4) leaving Netflix. Whoops.

- Once again, much to our dismay, Bex, Sage, and Damon did NOT have a threesome.

The AMPire Diaries Episode 73: The Vampire Diaries - “Gone Girl”

Alright, AMPies: SICKO CAST TIME! (If you know, you know.) It’s also, unfortunately, time to say goodbye to the Petrova Girls. (Please cue the Gilmore Girls theme. But in Bulgarian.) It is, however—and fortunately—also time to say goodbye to Dr. Wes Maxfield. Bye, bitch! Yes, this week, your favorite Vampire Diaries rewatch-slash-first-time watch (and mostly spoiler-free) combination podcast is discussing The Vampire Diaries’ “Gone Girl” (Season 5, Episode 15). Which means we’re talking:

- The titular Gone Girlz.

- The culmination of one of our greatest bits, at least on our end. (The Vampire Diaries really dropped the ball this time.)

- Vampire periods.

- That scoundrel, Bugs Bunny.

- Karma and who it is happening to.

- Jeremy being around and Jeremy’ing up our new ship, Bonnie/Liv.

- Caroline Forbes, who is still on notice.

- A fine farewell to both Nadia and Katerina “Katherine Pierce” “Kathy” “Kitty Kat” Petrova.

BONUS: Behind the Scenes: The AMPire Diaries' New Originals Theme

If you’ve listened to episode 72 (“Le Grand Guignol”) of the podcast, then you know that your AMPie Queens have created a brand new theme for their Originals coverage. In this bonus clip, you’ll get to hear some of the behind-the-scenes work that went into creating it. (Unfortunately, they did not record the original impetus behind doing… what they did.)

The AMPire Diaries Episode 72: The Originals - “Le Grand Guignol”

AMPies, Klaus still wants to kill his baby sister, and considering the fact that we learn in this episode that he was nice to her once? It’s kind of a big deal! That’s right, this week, your favorite Vampire Diaries rewatch-slash-first-time watch (and mostly spoiler-free) combination podcast is discussing (and butchering the pronunciation of) The Originals’ “Le Grand Guignol” (Season 1, Episode 15). Which means we’re talking:

- The fact that LaToya and Morgan are officially FED UP with French words.

- HE’S HERE. And he’ll definitely go to the papers if he has to: It’s Mikael “Mikey Mike” Mikaelson!

- HOW OLD IS EVE?

- Top Gun: Maverick, which is actually VERY important to The Originals Season 1.

- Lana the wolf.

- Carmen: A Hip Hopera.

- The way teens are treated on this show.

- More of our patented Finn Mikaelson fanfiction.

- Just who is the “Tyler” of this show.

The AMPire Diaries Episode 71: The Vampire Diaries - “No Exit”

AMPies, we are back on our Vampy Ds bullshit and we are back with all of our boys. Our boys and our terrible, just plain awful Elena Gilbert impersonator. (Seriously, shame on all of our Mystic Falls friends. Even Jeremy, who’s not our friend—in fact, we don’t even mention him when we’re talking about how all of them should know better—but should definitely know when his sister is not his sister.) Yes, this week, your favorite Vampire Diaries rewatch-slash-first-time watch (and mostly spoiler-free) combination podcast is discussing The Vampire Diaries’ “No Exit” (Season 5, Episode 14). Which means we’re talking:

- The boys… who are in motion.
