When Sean McCarthy joined Plymouth Argyle in 1988, few people would have thought he would go on to play and star in the Premier League, but Sean did.
From humble beginnings in South Wales, he battled his way though non-league before getting his chance at his boyhood club, Swansea City.
Financial troubles blighted his time at the Swans before Argyle acted as a magnificent springboard for the big forward. Forever remembered for scoring that goal against Everton in the FA Cup and a hat trick in a 3-0 win West Bromwich Albion.
A successful spell at Bradford City led to Premier League side Oldham Athletic getting his signature and although the Latics ended up getting relegated, Sean as fond memories of the top flight.
This is the story of Sean McCarthy.

It's fair to say that Lee Makel's time at Argyle didn't go as he or the club would have planned.
He made a promising start to life as a professional, making his debut for Newcastle United aged 17, before moving to Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League.
A highly successful few years in Scotland led to Argyle boss Bobby Williamson bringing Lee and a number of other players from north of the border, to Home Park.
A combination of injury and personal reasons meant that Lee's stay at Home Park was brief. Undeterred he went back to Scotland and even had a stint in Sweden as the player manager of Ostersunds.
This is the story of Lee Makel.

Not many players who have pulled on the green of Argyle have then gone onto win the Premier League and play in Europe.
Nicky Marker however, is able to make that claim. After swapping Exeter for Plymouth he excelled at Home Park and quickly became a fans' favourite. Playing either at the heart of defence or in midfield, his presence was crucial in Argyle's five-year stay in the second tier.
In 1992, just a few weeks after Blackburn Rovers clinched promotion to the Premier League at Home Park, Marker made the move to Lancashire to play for Rovers.
A Premier League-winning campaign and a Champions League appearance would follow before injuries began to take their toll. A fond member of the Argyle side in the 80s this is the career of Nicky Marker.
