Today's guest, Ben Leber, is a retired 10-year NFL linebacker who played for the San Diego Chargers (now LA), the Minnesota Vikings and the St. Louis Rams.
Ben's football journey began when he accepted a full-ride scholarship to Kansas State University in the summer of 1996. In his time at KSU, Ben was twice named to Big 12 All-Conference Teams, 3rd Team All-American team, and he ended up 5th in tackles in school history while graduating with a business degree. It's a reflection of the hard work he put in to balance and excel in both football and academics.
He went on to earn All-Rookie honors his first year in the NFL with San Diego as one of the starting outside linebackers. And while Ben found success on the field, it was how he carried himself off the field that stands out. He was a player representative all 5 years that he played for the Vikings and he was named the Korey Stringer Good Guy award by the local media. He went on to play his 10th and final year with the St. Louis Rams.
As Ben moved away from life as a professional football player, he knew he wanted to stay close to the game. He began working for Fox Sports as a college football color commentator. He has worked his way up the ladder and he is now a full-time analyst working Nationally Televised games for the Big 10, Big 12 and Pac 12 Conferences. He also maintains his life in Minneapolis and he began contributing and later working for KFAN radio. He appears on numerous radio shows throughout the week, mostly as a Minnesota Vikings/NFL insider. And this year he concluded his second full season as sideline analyst for the Vikings Radio Network.
Our conversation with Ben goes deep into the many lessons he learned while playing college and professional football. He dives into how he learned to take feedback to improve his game. Ben opens up about a period in his earlier career where he had significant self-doubt about his ability to play at the collegiate level. He shares the tools he learned and used to overcome these limiting beliefs. Ben also shares his "win from within" approach to success and how this mindset shift has helped him during his football career and during his transition to his current career as a broadcaster.
The tips and strategies that Ben shares in our conversation are applicable to everyone, whether you are an athlete of any age, a parent, an adult and everyone in between.

Our guest today, Dr. Stephen Cabral, is a Board Certified Doctor of Naturopathy and founder of the Cabral Wellness Institute and StephenCabral.com.
At 17 years old, Stephen Cabral was diagnosed with a life-altering illness and given no hope for recovery. Everyday, he suffered endlessly for many years. It was only after Stephen traveled all over the world and discovered how to combine ancient Ayurvedic healing practices with state-of-the-art Naturopathic & Functional Medicine did he understand how to fully rebalance the body and re-energize it with life.
Today in Dr. Cabral's online and Boston practice, where he and his team have completed over 250,000 client appointments, he uses Functional Medicine lab testing and Personalized Wellness Plans to help people rebalance their mind and body to recover from auto-immune, thyroid, fatigue, hormone, weight gain, digestive, childhood, mood, skin, and dozens of other hard to treat health conditions.
His mission is to help people understand that there is always a reason why you have not achieved your ideal wellness or weight loss goals and that you can and will get well again!
Even more credentials! After 20 years of research study completed, dozens of certifications in the natural health field, over 35,000 client appointments, and a Doctoral Degree in Naturopathy, you can rest assured that Dr. Cabral's knowledge, experience, and compassion are at the top of his field.
Dr. Cabral also spent over 5,000 hours of formal doctoral degree work, which included 2,200 hours of internships. These internships were mainly spent overseas studying the very best of natural medicine (much of which is unknown here in the US).
His internships included actually studying, working, and living in clinics all around the world. This intimate setting allowed Dr. Cabral to talk in depth with the patients at these clinics and listen to their struggles and path to wellness. He also got to see first hand the remarkable recoveries these people were making. Some of these internship locations included India, Sri Lanka, China, Europe, and various practices in the US.
Both Stephanie and Marnie have studied and completed their Integrative Health Certifications (Level 1 and 2) under Dr. Cabral and the Integrative Health Practitioner Program. They both have loved having him as a mentor, guide and teacher as they journey through their studies.
In this episode Dr. Cabral covers so many topics with us. We dive into the differences between Eastern and Western based philosophies including Integrative Health, Naturopathy, Ayurveda and Functional Medicine.
We also discuss the Rain Barrel Effect and how important it is to empty your rain barrel before it overflows. If you'd like to purchase a copy of his book all proceeds go to charity and it is a phenomenal book that we recommend reading.
The rain barrel discussion led us right into the topic of quarterly liver detoxes. Why you should detox and how they are different from a cleanse or diet. More detox info here
Dr. Cabral also shares with us that stress and inflammation are two of the most common problems people have today and a few tips that you can do immediately to work on these issues. He also stresses the importance of achieving equilibrium within the body, mind and spirit.
He also touches on acne, longevity, stress, motivation and so much more. This is an episode you will not want to miss!

In this episode we had a wonderful conversation with Modo Yoga and Seed Cafe owners Phil and Ryann Doucette.
We learned how both businesses came to be and how they were built with the idea of building a non-harming community.
"Modo Yoga Studio is a community of inspired students, joined together by our love of yoga, our commitment to protecting the earth, and our drive to bring more peace into the world. We are a place for all."
We learn about the yoga concept of ahimsa, which means nonviolence and non-harming to other living beings. Phil shares his transformation of becoming more aware of his physical body and mindset through yoga, which resulted in becoming less angry and more peaceful. Both Phil and Ryann share how you can create a practice of reducing harm and creating more peace, both to ourselves and others. They will share simple tips and techniques to incorporate ahimsa into your daily lives.
In 2013 Phil and Ryann got divorced and the dream of opening the cafe got put on hold. They spent the next years rebuilding their family in a new way. Their work was always rooted in love and respect, as they jokingly called it the 'yoga divorce'. They used all the things they learned in the practice of yoga to help move forward in a healthy way and eventually they opened the plant-based Seed Cafe (which is delicious and located in Minneapolis).
Seed Cafe was a twelve year dream that came to life a few years ago as they both knew that food was a powerful way to bring people together.
