Since I moved to Colorado 9 years ago, I’ve been extremely vocal about how different mental healthcare is here. And not in a good way.
Moving to Northern Colorado has given me hope - but only for Northern Colorado. Denver and the surrounding areas are still light years behind where things need to be.
In the conversations.
In the education.
In the services they provide.
A recent Douglas County Elementary School made headlines - for alllll the wrong reasons, as indicated by this title:
“DougCo elementary school uses excessive restraint on second-grader”
On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I discuss YOUR RIGHTS. I discuss services that are available to your children, although they’re not advertised or offered. I discuss when and how you need to become involved.
These are YOUR children. No decision should be made without your input, and theirs for that matter.
I discuss the importance of having an advocate who is NOT part of the school staff. I discuss it all - because there IS support available.
And you deserve it. Your kids deserve it!

I don’t keep certain snacks in my house because if they’re around - I know I’ll eat them all.
We live in a world where millions binge Netflix. But no one talks about binge eating. And so very many suffer, believing they’re the only ones.
On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, my guest, Julie Latz, shares her story of being obsessed with and controlled by food for 45 years. It felt like her life revolved around it! She was a yo-yo dieter and when she went off a diet, she found herself bingeing on all of her favorite foods and felt miserably out of control.
In 2010, Julie created a simple yet powerful process to finally become free from food addiction, which is detailed in her book Stop Binge Eating and Start Living Again. She coaches women worldwide on how to stop compulsive, emotional and binge eating without dieting or deprivation.

I’m exhausted.
The 1st 8 days of January feel longer than all of 2022😂 (kidding not kidding)
Between my health stuff, Sassy’s, the Damar Hamlin scare, and actually living life/working/scheduled appointments, I’m truly beat.
I automatically went right into the “getting things done” mode.
And then I tripped over my own two feet - literally!
And, by the way, it hurts when you’re already in pain. I had to sit and regroup...
And remember that taking care of ME comes first. It has to!
So I slowed down and forgot about the to do’s and listened to my body. And wouldn’t you know, things started falling into place.
On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I talk about life’s curve balls and how to best navigate them.

A day and a half after The Monday Night Football Trauma, and I’m still completely shaken.
All of my love and prayers are with Damar Hamlin and his family.
If you haven’t heard, Hamlin, 24/Buffalo Bills, collapsed on the field and received CPR before being transported to the emergency room where he remains in critical condition.
It took an hour, but the game was eventually suspended. Thank Goodness!
This is no longer about football. This is about how to help the world recover from this trauma.
Damar Hamlin, who we all are praying for…
His family
His teammates
The Cincinnati Bengals who were on the field
The referees
The medical staff
The announcers
The fans who were in the stadium
YOU!
Your children. Your friends. Your colleagues. Your students. Your employees.
This impacts us all and we need to address it, not bounce back to life as usual.
On today’s episode of The Be Ruthless Show, I dive deep into the importance of our mental well being - now more than ever.

Other things, I’m letting go of!

Eating disorders are under discussed and surrounded by stigma. That’s what makes todays guest on The Be Ruthless Show so special.
Dr. Marianne Miller is real and up front - about her own story as well as recovery in general.
Dr. Miller has been in the mental health field for 25 years and has specialized in eating disorders for the last 10 years. She was a full-time academic for 12 years and had a part-time eating disorder practice for much of that time until she left the university and went into private practice full-time in 2018.
Dr. Miller loves working with eating disorders as a therapist and a coach. She takes a non-diet, feminist approach that helps people of all genders live empowered, authentic lives. She embraces the Health at Every Size model, and is LGBTQIAA+ affirming. In November, she launched the Elite Binge Eating Recovery Method. It is a virtual coaching system that helps high performers regain their mental and emotional energy by shifting their relationship with food to be fully present in their life.
