  • The New Calvinism Extended with Rob Congdon
My guest last week and certainly this week is Dr. Robert Congdon. He’s the founder of Congdon Ministries International (CMI) and it’s a ministry which, I mentioned last week, that’s sought to assist local churches in Great Britain when he was there and now the US. But nevertheless his work has expanded to include many other countries, and primary focus of the ministry is dispensationalism and premilennialism. But also importantly, which underscores all of this, is biblical hermeneutics: the literal, historical, and grammatical interpretation of God’s Word. And in that pursuit, Rob has written a number of booklets that are critical of Calvinism, and one of his recent teachings concerns – well, what he calls “New Calvinism,” which we plan to discuss.

  • The New Calvinism Extended with Rob Congdon
Before we get started talking about a development [that] you term “The New Calvinism,” I think it would be very helpful to many of our listeners to define the fundamentals of Calvinism found in the acronym TULIP. As you know well, Rob, defining terms used by Calvinists are critical because, well, the way I’ve seen it, many non-Calvinists, even many of those who call themselves Calvinists, they don’t know what the sanctioned definition of major Calvinism terms are, so more often than not there’s a presumption that the terms are biblically consistent.
So, Rob, as best you can, give us a brief definition of the TULIP and how the basic terms differ from what the Scriptures teach.

  • Rome's Evangelism with Greg Durel (Part 2)
Greg, last week we talked about Pope Francis, and I want to concentrate on that because of the huge change that he has made within the Roman Catholic Church. He didn’t start it. We could go back to John Paul II, as we mentioned last week, and even, surprisingly, Pope Benedict XVI, and we thought he would get back to, you know, the rules and regulations, decrees of the Catholic Church in terms of obligations and all of that…. Well, he did a little bit, but he certainly made the way for a man like Pope Francis.

  • Rome's Evangelism with Greg Durel
We’re going to discuss some of the things related to the Roman Catholic Church, and, in particular, the increasing relationship that it has with evangelicals and, in particular, the influence of Pope Francis. My guest to talk about this is Greg Durel. He’s the pastor of Heritage Bible Church of Gretna, Louisiana, and he has a weekday radio ministry that is devoted to educating Catholics in biblical doctrine. Greg, like me, grew up as a Roman Catholic, so he knows Catholicism experientially as well as from his study of Catholic Church tradition and its dogmas.

  • Choosing God's Will

During the temptation in the wilderness, Satan offered to give Jesus “all the kingdoms of the world...and the glory of them” (Lk 4:5-6). He wasn’t bluffing. This world really is Satan’s to give to whom he will. Jesus didn’t dispute Satan’s boast that this world had been “delivered unto me [by God]; and to whomsoever I will I give it.” The conditions upon which Satan offered this world to Christ were clear: “If you bow down and worship me”—which, of course, Jesus refused to do. Beware! For the kingdoms and glories of this world are still the favors Satan bestows in order to entice today’s recipients into worshiping him.

  • "Christian" Psychology
The nailing of Martin Luther's 95 theses to the Wittenberg door was the catalyst that began the Reformation. Today the church is in even worse condition. Catholicism continues to promote the very evils against which the Reformers fought. Protestantism no longer protests Roman Catholic errors that still lead millions into hell, but its ecumenically minded leaders hope for a merger with Rome. In the popular clamor for "love and unity," vital issues for which the martyrs gave their lives are ignored.

  • Psychology and the Evangelical Church
Nothing in the history of the modern church has induced believers to abandon their faith in the sufficiency of God’s Word like the pseudo-science of psychological counseling. Consider the following: the evangelical church is a primary referral service for counseling psychologists and psychiatrists. Many large churches have licensed psychotherapists on staff. Mission agencies are requiring...

  • Psychology and the Doctrines of Devils
The greater part of the church no longer believes what the Scriptures proclaim: that God, in His Word, has given us “all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:3). The results, sadly, are what one might expect: there is often little statistical difference between those who profess to be Christians and those who do not, regarding the number of divorces, the reliance upon psychological counseling theories and methods, living together outside of marriage, illegitimate childbirths, pornography, sexual and physical abuse, and so forth.

  • The Inner Secrets of Inner Healing
The main topic for this week’s program is the rise of occultism in Christianity, and in particular, its entry through psychology and inner healing. Last week we addressed the occult influences in the church of Christian psychotherapy. Today we plan to discuss similar effects in the church brought in through Inner Healing ministries. Now, Inner Healing is...
