Hello Mindful Soul,
I’m switching things up over here on The Bodhi Soul · mindful living for real life… In an effort to be able to offer more (free) mindful moment meditations in both audio & (new) videos formats, I’ll be changing the newsletter from weekly to monthly. This will allow me to spend more time and care creating the meditations as well as the new programs and workshops coming soon.
The newsletter will now move to the last Sunday of each month and will still feature the same topics about the path towards a more slow, calm and peaceful life. I want this to continue to be a place where you find a mix of uncomplicated yet factual mindfulness and meditation info, straightforward guided meditations, as well as heartfelt offerings of my own personal journey.
Anyway, on to the special meditation I’ve included for you. This was originally planned as the paid subscribers meditation for this week, and it still is, but I’ve opened it up for you as well as a thank you for being here.
I hope you enjoy it!
💛 Rebecca

Hello mindful souls!
Welcome to Week 5 of The Fundamentals of Meditation: A 6 week meditation program for real life - where you’re learning how to integrate the aspects of calmness, focused awareness, and an open attitude (which you’ll experience during meditation practice) into your everyday life.
This session is an introduction to mantra meditation. Mantra is a Sanskrit term, with “man” meaning “mind” and “tra” meaning “release.” A mantra is a sound, word, or a phrase you repeat over and over during meditation. It’s an easy and effective tool that can help you focus your mind and keep it from wandering. Whether you choose a mantra that reinforces your intention to meditate, such as the Sanskrit word “shanti,” which means “peace”, or one that simply reminds you of how you’d like to feel, like the word like calm, or the word joy, there’s no right or wrong choice. You can also use your mantra as an affirmation that resonates with you, such as “I am calm” or “My life is filled with joy”.
*As a subscriber, one session will be delivered to your inbox every Friday for six weeks. If you’re a Paid Subscriber, you’ll also be getting your special weekly guided meditation so you’ll have them in time for your weekend.

Let’s start by answering the question: What is Meditation?
I find Meditation best described as the practice of focusing the mind to achieve a state of calm and clarity.Dating back thousands of years, many meditative techniques originated from Eastern traditions. Some of these techniques involve focusing on a particular sensation, such as breathing, a sound, visual image, or mantra. It takes patience and practice, and in taking the time to meditate, you open yourself up to amazing benefits.Meditation pioneer Sharon Salzberg says: “One of my meditation teachers said that the most important moment in your meditation practice is the moment you sit down to do it. Because right then you’re saying to yourself that you believe in change, you believe in caring for yourself, and you’re making it real. You’re not just holding some value like mindfulness or compassion in the abstract, but really making it real.”… I couldn’t agree more! There’s no special equipment required for this program, just a space where you can sit or lie down comfortably.
Thank you so much for taking the time to be here!
Again, I hope you’ll enjoy this program.

Hello Mindful Soul,
This grounding meditation is for times when you feel the need to recentre yourself and reconnect with your body and mind. It is one that will leave you feeling a sense of calm within.
There are studies that show comforting touch signals safety to the brain, triggering the release of hormones which promote feelings of well-being and reduced stress. You’ll be able to experience that for yourselves with this guided meditation.
If you have the time, take a few minutes to write in your journal about whatever may have come up today. It’s a wonderful way to explore your thoughts and feeling and cultivate self-awareness.
I hope you enjoy!
