The Bogey Men

The lads react to Viktor Hovland winning on the PGA Tour for the first time since 2023 and discuss what it means for Viktor going forward and for the European Ryder Cup Team.

We also look back at Rory winning The Players and if he'll finally get it done in Augusta this year.

Jonny attended the OFX Irish Legends Tour Event media day and spoke to Matt Sandercock from Mount Juliet Estate, the host venue for the tour event.

Isaiah Salinda might just be the coolest PGA Tour rookie at the moment, he's definitely the most chill guy we've had on the podcast.

Isaiah spoke to us during his week off after making his debut at The Players last week. He's had a solid start to his PGA Tour career with his best finish being a 3rd place in Mexico just a few weeks ago.

Isaiah spoke about making golf cool, what he likes to do away from the golf course as well as where the best and worst tour stops are for food.

It's Players week on the PGA Tour and golf season has arrived, the weather has improved and we're excited to get back on the tee.

We look at how Shane & Rory got on at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the stories that both of them were testing out a lot of equipment this week and we asked the question should Rory go free agent and leave Taylormade? Would working with all manufacturers to get the best gear possible to win Majors be the right move for Rory or does having a dedicated team at Taylormade make life easier for Rory to perform on the golf course?

Ireland Needs a Pro Tour for our young and aspiring professionals to get some competitive reps under their belts and see how they stack up against other & older pros. We've seen the growth of the Rose Ladies Series in the UK, so why haven't the likes of Rory, Shane, Padraig, Paul, Gmac or Darren put their name to something similar in Ireland?

We outline how simple we think this could be and how it could benefit the future of Irish pro golf.

We also catch up to talk Jake Knapp, the Cognizant Classic, Ryan Peake winning the New Zealand Open and his incredible story as well as plenty more!

Michael & Jonny got advance viewing of 'Full Swing Season 3' from Netflix and we talk through some of our favourite moments from this series.

Jonny also talks to Chad Mumm, the Executive Producer of 'Full Swing' about making the series and some of the key storylines.

Jonny had a hectic weekend with emergency surgery on Saturday removing his appendix so he has begun a 4 week road to recovery to play golf again.

On the podcast today I was joined by Head Product Fitter & Trainer Chris Courtneidge to talk through the entire range of 2025 products from Callaway. For you gear heads, this is the podcast for you!

The 2025 range of Callaway Golf products have launched and the tagline is that "THE FUTURE OF PERFORMANCE IS ELYTE" a nice nod to Callaway founder Ely, this year Callaway claims their drivers are up to 8 yards longer, fairway woods promote 57% less turf interaction, their most adjustable hybrids ever, and irons with exceptional ball speeds for every type of player.

All of this is to help you discover how Elyte your game can be!

The new products don't just stop there, Odyssey have launched their Square 2 Square putters in an answer to the recent growth in LAB putters.

We all know that Odyssey are the #1 Putter on Tour, and they have announced their all-new family: Ai-ONE Square 2 Square with zero torque.

Zero torque is one of the hottest trends in putting. There are lots of options, but only Odyssey delivers their most successful Tour-proven shapes (Jailbird, #7, and Double Wide) with an Ai-ONE Insert for more consistent ball speeds across the face. Ai-ONE Square 2 Square Putters feature a modern centre shafted design that makes them Stroke Balanced, so they want to stay square throughout a golfer’s stroke. These putters are ideally suited for golfers looking to minimize their face rotation when they putt.

Odyssey positions the shaft just above the head’s centre of gravity for a putter that rests with the toe up, which is the opposite of a traditional putter with toe hang. This design promotes a square face throughout the stroke. Ai-ONE Square 2 Square Putters provide built in forward press as well. The 3.3° of forward shaft lean sets the hands in a forward press position, eliminating the opening of the face that often happens when golfers forward press.

And lastly Callaway have added another new ball, the Chrome Tour Triple Diamond golf ball, this comes after the highest premium ball share Callaway have ever had in the US. Really that's been attributed to what they've done with the new Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X Golf Balls that was launched in 2024. They've got tremendous momentum and success, not only in the marketplace, but in Tour as well, where this year on tour, Callaway had three major wins and over 19 wins worldwide on the Tours in 2024. Similarly, the big thing for Callaway in this category is they hit their all-time market share high earlier this year in July of 22.2%.

The plan is to build upon that momentum in 2025 and have an exciting new addition to the Chrome Tour family of products called Chrome Tour Triple Diamond. It's basically a lower spinning Chrome Tour X and it's really designed for the player that's looking for that low spin and the benefits in how that low spin benefits that type of player, a player that spins the ball too much.

It’s a golf ball that’s going to help bring that spin down, optimise trajectory, maximise distance, and be more consistent into the wind. Really, it's a golf ball that uses Callaway's Chrome Tour platform with technologies. It starts with a Hyper Fast Soft Core. This ball will be fast, fast off the tee. You're going to feel it. And it has a seamless Tour arrow, its own surface geometry designed for that low spin.

Really, this golf ball is going to be long off the tee. It's going to feel great. It's going to have a urethane cover, give you great check spin around the green. And it has consistency, all tied up into this one particular package. So, this will be a nice new addition to Callaway's lineup.

Thomas Detry won his 1st PGA Tour title at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Like us Detry is supported by G/Fore Shoes, so it's nice to see a teammate get a win!

LIV was a little disappointing to be honest, playing under the lights was cool but overall it lacked a little excitement.

The Ladies European Tour kicked off last week with 5 Irish in action in Morocco, Lauren Walsh finished T4 as Sara Byrne fell back to T15 on the final day.

Jonny & Michael catch up after a quieter week on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour and we discuss golf's image problem off the back of Justin Thomas' letter to fellow tour pros about being entertaining.

TGL Week 4 saw Rory and Tiger lock horns and the GOAT came out on top, this was by far the best week of TGL so far.

In 2024, AIG launched a new initiative, the ‘Inner City Golfer’ in an effort to break down barriers in the traditionally exclusive world of golf. This initiative focused on providing kids from Dublin’s inner-city with access to the sport, reshaping golf’s perception as a posh or wealthy sport and opening doors to potentially life-changing opportunities.

This is the first year of the initiative and over the course of 16 weeks, AIG along with some partners including Golf Ireland, Carr golf and McGuirks have created a new pathway to learn and excel in a sport typically out of their reach.

Adam Duffy and Daniel Mullen took up golf just 16 weeks ago and are now hooked!

I sat down with Adam and Daniel as well as their teachers at Clontarf Golf Club, where Adam and Daniel will now be taking up membership through this initiative, to explore why they wanted to take up golf, what they thought golf was like before then began and whether they now think golf is more approachable now they've started.

The Bogey Men golf podcast is supported by AIG, dedicated supporters of amateur golf in Ireland.

This series will showcase some of the incredible Amateur golf across Ireland this year.

Go visit AIG.ie for a range of golf exclusive discounts and benefits on their products. Golf Ireland members can save an additional 10% on their car insurance, and you can enjoy some exclusive benefits when you choose AIG Insurance.
